** Please read through all instructions carefully before making your Dracula **
Layout and Cutting

: Cut out pattern pieces and lay each piece onto your chosen felts. Carefully cut out.
Head

Hair

: Referring to the illustration, place the hair front onto the face as shown. What I find helpful,
is to first lay the face onto the hair back, centring it so that the bottom of the face is matched
up with the bottom of the hair. You should notice that the face is cut slightly smaller than the
hair back – this will ensure that when you sew the front and back hair together, the face
will be hidden between the two.

: Place the hair front onto the face and adjust the hair so that it's centred correctly. Now,
without disturbing the hair, gently remove the hair back and pin in place. Using very tiny running
stitches, sew the hairline onto the face.

Face

: Embroider a tiny nose and mouth, making sure to centre them toward the bottom of the face.
Outline his teeth in black embroidery thread and fill in with white thread.

: Being very careful, make two tiny holes slightly higher and on either side of the nose with the
tip of a very sharp pair of scissors. (Embroidery scissors work best.) Insert safety eyes and
connectors at back. Embroider tiny eye brows above the eyes. Add a bit of colour to his cheeks
using your pencil crayon or powder blush.
: For the ornament loop, fold your yarn or ribbon in half and knot the two loose ends together.
Center the knot onto the wrong side of the head back, placing it about ¼ inch down from the
top of the edge. Stitch knotted area securely in place using tiny stitches and making sure that
they are invisible from the right side of the felt.

Assembling the Head

: Place head front onto hair back, wrong sides together and pin. Starting at the bottom,
whip stitch all the way around, leaving an opening for stuffing. Stuff firmly and whip
stitch closed.

Shirt and Pants

: I've provided a template of the body to help you get the positioning of the shirt and pants
just right.

: Lay the pants onto the template guide, matching the bottom edge of pants to the bottom
edge of the template. Position the shirt on top of the pants, matching the top edge of the
shirt onto the top edge of the body template.

: Using a tiny running stitch, sew the bottom edge of the shirt onto the pants and repeat
process on the other set, making sure that both front and backs are in perfect alignment with
one another.

: Sew three seed beads down the front of his shirt.

: Place front body onto back body, wrong sides facing and whip stitch around to the waist
band on the opposite side. I like to add the stuffing to the pant legs at this point. Continue to
whip stitch up to the side of the neck.

: Stuff firmly and run a gathering stitch just below the neck opening and tighten the thread,
closing the hole. You can add more stuffing at this point to fill it up if needed. You should end
up with a tight, rounded nub. Hand stitch closed securely.

Shoes

: Embroidery tiny buckles onto the front of each shoe.

: Place front and back shoes together and whip stitch all the way around, leaving an opening at
the top edge. Add a pinch or two of stuffing and blanket stitch edge closed.

: Pin shoes to bottom of pant legs and ladder stitch front and backs onto the seam.

Arms and Sleeves

: Fold sleeve in half and whip stitch side together. Repeat with other sleeve.

: Whip stitch round arm, leaving an opening at the back. Stuff and whip stitch closed
Assembling your Dracula

: Pin head to body. Attach with embroidery thread using a ladder stitch and going round and
round till the head is nice and secure. A good trick to avoid a wobbly head is to ladder stitch
around once and then on the next few rows, take the ladder stitch lower a teeny bit on the neck
and a teeny bit higher on the face. Each time you go around, go a little lower on the neck and
a little higher on the face (about 1mm at a time). This will bring the head closer onto the neck
and it'll be a lot more stable.

: Slide top of arm into sleeve.

: Pin arms to sides of body. Using a longer needle threaded with embroidery thread, insert
underneath one arm and bring it through the body and out through the other arm. Insert needle
into the same arm, imagining if you will, that you are sewing two-holed buttons on at the top
of each arm. Go through the body again and out through the other arm in the same manner,
repeating the process a few more times and end off underneath an arm.
Cape

: Position red cape onto black cape and pin in place. Blanket stitch all the way around edges.

: Place cape around shoulders, positioning it so that the edges slightly overlap in the centre of
the shirt front. Pin in place.

: Insert a threaded needle from the back of the neck, (Fold the collar back to keep it out of the
way) and bring it through the neck and out through one side of the cape edge at the front.

: Sew the two cape edges together at the front. Take your needle back through to the centre
back of the neck and make a tiny stitch, securing the cape onto the neck. I do that a few
times along the edge of the cape so that it stays in place.

: Before ending off your thread, place bow tie onto the area that you've just stitched and sew
in place.
