TRAFFIC CONGESTION MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM USING AI
Traffic congestion is a common issue faced in many urban areas, leading to
delays, wasted time, and increased fuel consumption. A solution to this problem
is the implementation of an AI-driven traffic congestion management system that
optimizes traffic flow by using real-time data from various sensors and cameras.
The system analyzes data continuously from sources like traffic sensors and
cameras to track and predict traffic patterns, congestion points, and trends. This
data allows for real-time adjustments to traffic signal timings, ensuring that traffic
lights are only green when needed, rather than causing unnecessary waits when
there is little to no traffic in one direction. Also when emergency vehicles like
ambulance or fire fighter vehicle comes from a certain Direction, the system's
priorities them to clear the direction early. For instance, it also addresses
situations where a traffic light may remain green without any vehicles passing
through, while other directions are heavily congested with waiting cars. By
monitoring the traffic conditions across the entire city network, the AI system
dynamically adjusts signals, leading to smoother traffic flow, reduced delays, and
overall faster travel times. In addition to traditional sensors, the system also
employs advanced technologies such as thermal vision cameras. These cameras
help detect vehicles, humans, and other living beings on the road, improving the
system’s ability to make more informed and accurate decisions. This results in
not only better traffic management but also energy savings, as optimized flow
helps reduce fuel consumption, lowering environmental impact.
