School Attendance and Events Update

From Monday 12th March, any children who arrive late to school will need to be signed in by a parent at the school office. The school day starts at 8:45am and late arrivals can disrupt classes. The Educational Welfare Officer regularly checks the late register and may contact parents of children who are late more than 5 times, unless the lateness is due to unavoidable traffic issues. The Year 2 trip to the lighthouse was postponed due to bad weather but Mrs. Brown hopes to reschedule it soon. The school will be taking Years 3-6 to a music festival competition on Friday 16th March.

StThomasofCanterburyPrimarySchoolNewsletter

From Monday 12th March children who are late arriving at school will need to be signed in by an adult at the school office. Our day starts at 8.45am and children arriving after this time are causing possible disruption to their class. The Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) checks our late register on a regular basis and might be contacting parents if a child is late more than 5 times. I know some of you travel some distance to get to school and on rare occasions there are unavoidable traffic delays. As a oneoff the EWO will be understanding of individual situations and will only contact families who are persistently late so please dont be alarmed if you are asked to sign in your child. Mrs. J Anderson and Mrs. M Sanderson
O Lord, you have mercy on all, take away from me my sins, and mercifully set me ablaze with the fire of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

The

Y2 Lighthouse Trip was a bit of a washout this week due to the poor

weather so Mrs. Brown will be doing her best to re-arrange it as soon as possible at no extra cost to parents of course. In the meantime she seems to be missing about a dozen pairs of pants!! If your child borrowed a pair please return them (washed!) as soon as possible. Thank you. Y2s supply of carrier bags was also depleted so Mrs. Brown would be grateful for donations of bags so that her stock can be replenished ready for any emergencies.

FOSTA DIARY DATES

The next FOSTA Meeting will be held on Wednesday 21st March 2012 at 1pm in the Eight Bells. It would be lovely to see some new faces and there are spaces available for ordinary members, giving you voting rights on the work and activities carried out by FOSTA. Thursday 29th March 2012 is Mufti Day in aid of Easter Bingo (see below). Come to school in your own clothes for the day, in exchange for the donation of a boxed Easter egg. On Friday 30th March 2012 starting at 6pm there will be Easter Bingo in the School Hall. Eyes down and away we go!! This evening is always great entertainment for the whole family and will be a fantastic way to start the Easter Holidays. Bingo cards available on the night - no need to pre-book - just turn up and join in the fun! And lastly ... Do you have a wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit/don't suit or were simply bought in a weak moment and are never likely to see the light of day? FOSTA are considering a 'Clothes Exchange' to be held in the School Hall one Saturday during April. This is a new venture for us and we would really appreciate an indication as to whether or not people are likely to participate before we set everything up. This is how it works: Seller buys a pack for 1.50 which contains instructions and labels, together with a unique seller number. Items are labelled up and brought to the School Hall on the morning of the sale (probably between 9-10am). FOSTA will organise all articles received into different categories (ie. clothes, accessories, footwear) in size order. The Sale would take place between 11.30-1.30. All unsold items to be collected between 2.30-3pm. (Timings are all approximate at this stage). The proceeds of any items sold are then split 50:50 with the seller and FOSTA. Depending on the uptake, we would be happy for friends and family to also take part as sellers. Please contact one of the FOSTA committee members (Kirsty, Dawn, Alison or Josie) if you would be interested in taking part in this event. Alternatively you may call or text Josie on 07752468911. We look forward to hearing from you!!

Other notices of interest:

The Parish Council of St Saviour's/St Thomas' are organising a Parish Day on 12th May at Verbum
Dei, Carisbrooke. The day is a chance for both communities to join in a day of community, friendship and fun. There will be lots of fun activities for children and opportunities for adults to share in discussions. There will also be football matches and maybe even a tug of war! Families can sign up at either of the churches where they will find a form at the back of the church.
