1* State objectives & functions of schedulling?

What are the factors affecting schedulling

Objectives of scheduling:-
The fundamental objective Of scheduling is to arrange the manufacturing activities in such a way that the
cost of the production is minimized and the goods produced are delivered on due dates.
1 In order to meet the delivery dates the sequence of operations is properly planned.
2 To have minimum total time of product o by having better resources utilisation.
3 for having maximum capacity utilizatio and reducing the labour cost by minimization of idleness of
machines and manpower,
4 To avoid unbalanced allocation of work among the various departments and the workstations.
• Functions of scheduling:-
1 assignment:- allocation of order or jobs amongast various work entres
2:] sequencing :-St he specific sequencing of various operations, which are required to be performed at
specific come centre
3 ] Dispatching:- Ensuring the beginning. of the work at various work centres.
4] Monitor and Controlling :-Of work assigned to various work.To be monitored on AnTh юдни
Centres needs Ongoing basis.
*2 Discuss in detail the Manufacturing flow system. What Do mean by Continuous flow system &
intermidian flow system.?
*Discuss in detail the Manufacturing flow system:-
Manufacturing Flow is how work progresses within a system. Manufacturing process workflows, or flow
charts, detail the raw activity steps that must be completed to create finished goods from the time raw
materials arrive at the manufacturing facility until those materials are converted into finished goods. It is
important to plan and develop a good work-flow system because When a system is works well it tends to
move steadily and predictably. A badly designed flow results in work interruptions. When there is a
breakdown in the flow, chances of accumulating waste increases.
*By Continuous flow system & intermidian flow system:-
Intermittent :-
“Intermittent situations are those where the facilities must be flexible enough to handle a variety of
products and sizes or where the basic nature of the activity imposes a change of important characteristics
of the input (e.g. change. In the product design). In instances such as these, no single sequence pattern of
operations is appropriate, so the relative location of the operation must be a compromise that is best for all
inputs considered together.”
Continuis flow system:-
“Continuous flow production situations are those where the facilities are standardized as to routings and
flow since inputs are standardized. Therefore a standard set of processes and sequences of the process can
adopt.”
*4 What do you mean by work flow Automation ! Explain its benifits.
Workflow automation is the act of defining a series of a flow of tasks to complete a process and removing
all the manual steps. Workflow automations make complicated business processes easier to manage
Workflow automation is a way to simplify the processes to achieve the desired task in an efficient manner
with consistent and accurate Results
Benifits:-
Streamlined communication:-
Workflow automation can significantly improve communication between your team members. Since
employees often cite stress due to poor communication as a reason for leaving an employer, this type of
software could help you reduce turnover. Workflow automation improves communication by eliminating
the need for team members to remind each other when something needs to be done; they’ll receive those
reminders automatically.
Increased accountability:-
By automating your workflow, you can assign responsibility to a team member for every part of the
process, reducing the chances of something slipping through the cracks. Each step of the process is
assigned to someone.
Cost savings:-
Workplace automation could save your business money by eliminating costly errors and streamlining your
processes to help employees complete them more efficiently.
5*List the principles of Material handeling system. Also explain the various factors affecting
selection material handleing equipment.?
Material handeling system:-
The word material has very timad meaning, covering all kinds of raw materials press subassemblies, and
finished assemblies workin Material Handling is the function of moving the right material to the right
place in the right time in the right amount in sequence, and in the right condition to minimize production
cost
Various factors affecting selection material handleing equipment.:-
>Industrial trucks:
Hand trucks such as two-wheeled, four-wheeled, hand lift, and forklift And powered trucks such as
forklift, tractor-trailer trains, Industrial crane trucks, and I loaders.
>Conveyors:
Belt, chute, roller, wheel, slat, chain, bucket, trolley, tow, screw, vibrating and Pneumatic Monorails,
hoists, and cranes: Bridge cranes, gantry, tower, and stacker.
>Automated guided vehicle systems:
Unit load carriers, towing cranes, pallet trucsystems Trucks, Jib Crain, Chain Hoist, Electricity Hoist, and
assembly line.
> Automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS):
Such as unit load, mini-load.Person-on-board, deep lane, and storage carousel systems.
6*Material handing handling system design And decision?
Material handling is an integral part of any industrial activity and the main objective of using a material
handling system is to make sure that the material in the right quantity i safely delivered to the desired
destination at the right time and at minimum cost. An efficient material handling is important to
manufacturing operations because during the process of manufacturing materials sent by vendors must be
unloaded, moved through inspections and production operations to stores and finally to the shipping
department. These movement do not add value to the product but they do add value to the cast. With
growing business a greater emphasis is laid on productivity, profitability as well as resource conservation
and ecological preservation Material handling plays a very crucial role in sustaining efficiency in financial
and human resources
7*Objectives & functions of store keeping?
To ensure continuous supply of materials and stores without delay to various produc and service
departments of the organization.
>To prevent overstocking or under-stocking of materials. To inspect in all materials as to quality and
quantity.
>To reduce storage cost.
> ensure proper and continuous control over materials.
>To make the best and effective utilization of available storage space and wor engaged in the process of
store-keeping.
>To protect materials from loss and wastage due to improper storage. To identify and locate materials in
the store-rooms without delay.
Function:-
> Purchase order and requisitions as and when material is required
>Receiving purchased stores from the Receiving Department and verifying that every lot of stores is
supported by an indent, a purchase order and an inspection note.
>Preparing ‘Goods Received Note’ as per the requirement with the different stores lots received.
8. Describe the strategic of wore housing? Also Give Classification of warehouse.Strategies of
warehousing ?
Human resource is the important part of every organisation and exday department of the organisation
warehouse involve a sgnificant number of seman and in efficienty of human can cast huge to the
organisation in the form dissatisfaction to the customer.
1) Vigilance :- Thes are huge chancel of errors when the work is perfformed by the humans even if
automated work is performed then also this connot be said that the work is 100% accurate The errors
cannot be removed fully the only thing that on organisation can do is to minimise the earers and to
programme to boost the the vigilance and itate staff incentive morale perfectness regarding
2) Compare Errors against Documented procedural. Changes:- Propers maintance of the records regarding
Inventory is of quite importance. The error are very obvious to occur but the rate of errors. Differs from
manager to manager. The reason of errors may be improper implementation of the technology, negligence
on the part f manager A expert lock of training are unrealistic expectations and to find 19/26 reason of the
exceed is very diffe19/26
3)The undercover Boss:- The main objective of the undercover boss B to know about how the employee
feels on the work place but pit can also be used at techique to know about the other activities. Which may
seem as mimportant from the point of view of the owner but every important from the point of view

*short note
Scheduling:- Scheduling is the determination Start date and End Dates Le. (Planning of time and date
when each operation is to be commenced and completed) It includes the scheduling of materials or
inventories, machineries and all other requisites of production.
Manufacturing scheduling:- is the allotment of resources and sequencing of activities to produce goods
and services. Scheduling fixes the time each job or activity starts and completes on each machine
Material handling:- The word material has very broad meaning covering all kinds of raw materials, work
in process, subassemblies, and finished assemblies Material Handling is the function of moving the right
material to the right place in the right time, in the right amount, in sequence, and in the right condition to
minimize production cost.
Warehousing:- For efficient warehousing, using combined facilities like private and public warehouses
can increase cost efficiency and product storage. Full Utilization of Warehouses: Using best space
management of your warehouse with proper layout can also increase the efficiency.
Storekeeping:- According to Alford and Beatty "storekeeping is that aspect of material control concerned
the physical storage of goods. In other words, storekeeping relates to art of preserving raw materials,
work-in-progress and finished goods in the stores
Space management:- The term space utilization refers to the occupancy of the building divided by its
capacity This gives a percentage of how much of the space has been utilized and how much is remaining
vacant
