JOB PURPOSE

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITY

 Ensure compliance with responsibilities within the Management Systems.


 Ensure the company’s fleet meets all regulations and certifications continuously.
 Study stakeholder requirements and ensure the fleet performs its regulatory and commercial
obligations.
 Monitor the effective maintenance of the fleet’s equipment and machinery, identify trends and
implement solutions that will enhance the safety and operational performance of the vessels.
 Control the vessels’ performance, shipboard maintenance and repair programs and ensure that
defects are rectified within the timeframe to meet Flag and Class requirements.
 Liaise with Insurance brokers on all fleet requirements.
 Assist in emergency response.
 Ensure that updated and detailed specifications of managed vessels are available.
 Determine repair specifications for dry-docking, maintenance and surveys and the most
economical method to complete these.
 Ensure proper up-to-date records are prepared during and on completion of dry-docking and
repairs for actual and anticipated expenditure and quality of the works and products involved.
 Produce detailed designs of maritime vessels using drawings and specialist computer software
 Appoint and manage subcontractors for vessel maintenance and services.
 Monitor the office and shipboard marine, safety and quality issues and check the status of all
reported deficiencies.
 Liaise with third parties on technical and operational matters.
 Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair
specifications for dry docking and maintenance.
 Make regular local and overseas vessel visits to ensure that the condition and performance of
the vessels meet the company’s criteria for safe and effective operations.
 Conduct and control technical inspections performed, ensuring any preventative and correctives
action are dealt with to ensure conformance and continuous improvement
 Perform role of Company Security officer

 Undertake initial Ship Security Assessments as necessary for developing the Ships Security
Plan (SSP).
 Ensure security measures established in the SSP are developed and implemented, and a
valid ISSC (International Ship Security Certificate) is available.
 Maintain records and databases through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding
and updating.
 Lead by example.
 Monitor area of responsibility and communicate any potential issues.
 Any other reasonable duties as defined by the role and management.

REQUIREMENTS

 Qualified as a Marine Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Naval Architect.


 Ten years minimum experience in a similar role.
 Required to have managerial experience
 Ability to travel at short notice.
 Proficient in English
 PC literate, including good experience with MS Office
 Clean Criminal Record
