Transitional Words for CSEC Summary Writing

Addition (To show more information)


Words: Furthermore, Moreover, Additionally, Also, Besides, In addition
Example: The new policy improves efficiency. Furthermore, it reduces costs.

Contrast (To show differences)


Words: However, On the other hand, Nevertheless, Although, Whereas, While
Example: The book was interesting; however, it was quite lengthy.

Cause and Effect (To show relationships)


Words: As a result, Therefore, Consequently, Thus, Because of this
Example: He studied hard. As a result, he passed the exam with flying colors.

Sequence/Order (To show progression)


Words: First, Second, Next, Then, Finally, Subsequently
