National Recognition The BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management is a nationally
recognised qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Course Purpose This course is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to:
• Use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and
management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes
within broad parameters;
• Use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise
information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others;
• Use creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond
to complex problems;
• Operate a business and implement a business plan;
• Establish the strategic direction of an organisation, sustain competitive
advantage and enhance competitiveness;
• Contribute to the creation of an organisation development plan;
• Develop and maintain a positive and productive workplace environment;
• Develop, implement and maintain a strategic approach to managing human
resources;
• Sustain and develop an environment in which continuous improvement,
innovation and learning are promoted and rewarded;
• Demonstrate senior leadership behaviour and personal and professional
competence;
• Define, identify and establish the recordkeeping framework; and
• Research diversity and its importance to organisational activity and to draft, plan
and implement diversity policy.

Course Target Audience This course is aimed at prospective learners with little or no vocational experience within
a leadership and management environment, but who possess a high level of theoretical
leadership and management skills and knowledge and wish to consolidate and build
pathways to further educational or employment opportunities.

This course would also be suitable for individuals with substantial experience in a range of
settings who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business
functions.

Course Entry Requirements Laneway Education requires prospective students to satisfy the following entry
requirements.

Domestic Learners – Essential entry requirements:


• Must be at least 18 years of age at course commencement; AND

• Successful completion of Australian year 10 or equivalent.

International Learners – Essential entry requirements:


• Must be at least 18 years of age at course commencement; AND
• Successful completion of Australian year 10 or equivalent; AND
• Can demonstrate they hold an IELTS 5.5 with no skills band less than 5 or
equivalent

All Learners – Recommended entry requirements to facilitate successful completion of the


course:
• It is recommended that all learners be proficient in the use of computer-based
technology;
• It is recommended that all learners have high-level learning, reading, writing,
language, oral communication, and numeracy skills.

Course Duration This course is offered on a full-time basis. The volume of learning for this course is 1800
hours over a period of eighteen (18) months.

Note: ‘Volume of learning’ includes all teaching, learning and assessment activities that a
typical student must undertake to achieve the learning outcomes.

Learners who require additional support, or who require reassessment for one or more
assessment tasks, may be required to complete additional hours of work than those
specified.

Note: Any cohort of learners whose period of study crosses the Christmas / New Year
period will be subject to a six-week break over this time to allow for the college shutdown
period.

Course Delivery Methods The course is delivered and assessed through a blended model. Specifically, the course
contains a combination of scheduled course contact hours (two-thirds) and on-line
delivery and assessment (one-third).

‘Scheduled course contact hours’ are defined as the hours for which learners enrolled in
the course are scheduled to attend classes, course-related information sessions,
supervised study sessions, mandatory and supervised work-based training and
examinations.

The scheduled course contact hours for the course includes the following activities:
• Classroom lectures
• Tutorials: Trainer-led classroom workshops and research projects
• Progression Coach Workshops: Trainer-led one-on-one and group sessions
covering assessment preparation and planning

The online delivery and assessment for the course includes the following activities:
• Self-paced online coursework, consisting of reading material and formative
activities
• Trainer-led online discussions and workshops (where applicable). These
discussion forums and workshops focus on independent study and assisting the
learners to contextualise their learning in a real or simulated work environment.

Course Assessment A range of assessment methods will be used throughout the course to determine a
Methods learner’s competency. These methods include practical applications and projects, multiple
choice questioning, case studies, personal reflections, role-plays and interviews, and the
creation of presentations and documents that could be used in the workplace.

Course Location This course is offered at our Sydney Start Up Hub campus located at Level 7, 11-31 York
Street, Sydney, NSW, Australia 2000.

Course Learning Resources, Each learner will be required to provide the following items during their studies:
Facilities and Equipment • Internet connected learning device (computer, laptop, tablet device, iPhone, or
similar device); and
• Stationery and study material (paper, pens, etc.).

Laneway Education will provide each learner with the following items during their studies:
• Qualified trainers, assessors and progression coaches;
• A safe and comfortable learning space to undertake their on-campus studies
• Learning resources to enable learners to meet the requirements for each unit of
competency, including all learning material (content) and assessment tools for
each unit of competency;

Arrangements

Recognition of Prior If a prospective learner believes they can demonstrate that they already possess the skills
Learning (RPL) and knowledge of one or more units of competency included in this course, they may
apply for RPL for those units. The prospective learner must provide evidence of their
competency for assessment by the College.

Learners will be informed of, and offered the opportunity to apply for, RPL during the
enrolment process.

Credit Transfer (CT) If a prospective learner already holds one or more units of competency included in this
course (or equivalent units as listed on the national register at [Link]) issued by
a Registered Training Organisation, they are entitled to receive CT for those units. This
means the learner will not be required to undertake the units they already hold.

Eligible learners will be offered CT during the enrolment process.

Further Study Pathway Learners who successfully complete this qualification can choose to enrol in an
undergraduate course at a higher education provider. Credit points for previous
vocational education studies may be awarded, however this is at the discretion of the
higher education provider.

Course Fees and Payment The tuition fee for this course is $9,900. Learners will also be required to pay a non-
Terms refundable enrolment fee of $200.

This course fee can be paid over an agreed instalment plan. This is established when
learners receive their offer letter.
