Quantum computing is an emerging field of technology that uses the principles of quantum
mechanics to perform computations that cannot be performed using classical computers. While
bits in computers can only exist in a 0 or 1, qubits that are used in quantum computing are capable
of existing in multiple states at the same time, making problem solving processes faster. Quantum
circuits and gates are the key to quantum computing and are used in algorithms like Deutsch-Jozsa,
Shor’s factorization, and Grover’s search, which improve areas like cryptography, optimization,
and machine learning. Recent advancements in quantum hardware include IBM’s Condor
surpassing 1,000 qubits, Google’s Willow achieving enhanced error correction, and innovations
from Amazon, Microsoft, IonQ, and Quantinuum in superconducting and trapped-ion qubits. From
secure communications and drug discovery to machine learning, the real-world prospects of
quantum technologies are vast, although error correction, scalability, and hardware limitations
pose significant challenges. Long term, these changes promises unprecedented transformation in
all industries through Quantum-enthusiasts vision and encouraging rapid practical implementation
of this technology adopting its large scale. These shifts will enable the use of AI on the systems
alongside interconnected quantum networks and hybrid-quantum classical system.
