WRITING CORRECTION CODE

The chart below shows students the error correction code to help them raise awareness of
mistakes in order to improve writing skills.

CODE USE EXAMPLE


WW Wrong Word As our plane flew on the mountains, we saw snow.
WT Wrong Time As we were flying, they see some colourful birds.
GR Grammar Jack and Kim saw Matt when they was bought the tickets.
WO Word Order As our plane over the mountains flew, we saw heavy
clouds.
Sp Spelling The falcon was flying over the mauntains.
P Punctuation The tickets were cheap; but the hotel was a bit unaffordable.
X Extra Word I came to home after training for five hours.
Reph Rephrase Came home the detective to ask if would see to him.
V Missing word Tim and Sally were going home when found some money.

Other useful codes!

//: separate paragraph. It means that you have to start writing a new paragraph.

C: capital letter. It means that you have to use a capital letter at the beginning of a word.

: indentation. It means that you have to indent the first line of the paragrah.

N/C: no contractions. It means that you shouldn´t use the short form of the verb

2) Read the passage and use the correction code to identify the underlined
mistakes:

Well, 1) its another rainy day. I wonder what 2) I will do? First, I think I’ll take a walk

with toast fruit eggs and bacon. After that, I might mow my 6) lawn; it’s getting pretty
