Writing Day 10

The document discusses the debate between imprisoning criminals and educating them as methods of punishment. It argues that while prison is necessary for dangerous offenders to ensure societal safety, education can effectively rehabilitate less serious criminals by changing their mindset and providing vocational skills. Ultimately, the appropriate response should depend on the severity of the crime.

It is a fact that those who have ever committed crimes must be punished

adequately. However, whether taking them to jail or considerably educating

them about their behavior as a solution has been a topic of interest among
citizens. This essay will represent my perspective on both views.
On the one hand, prisoning criminals is a compelling method since this method is
suitable for extremely dangerous ones. To be more specific, the environment in
prison is difficult and severe which can help to raise the repentance of criminals
and they deserve to pay for what they have done. It also helps to warn other
people to be aware of their actions regardless of any circumstances. In addition,
this kind of solution is an effective way to ensure the security of society. Keeping
people committing crimes in jail partly aims to separate them from exposing to
the citizens. For example, a neighborhood where there is a killer hiding can make
the locals feel insecure and that has an adverse implication on their life qualities.
Aside from prisoning committed people, education also has glaring implications
on criminals whose behaviors are not significantly serious. Given the inseparable
relationships between actions and mindset, teaching people how to distinguish
the wrong and the right side of a case can provide them with the capacity of
controlling themselves. In addition, education is crucial in the fixing process of
criminals. Aside from raising their awarenesses, organizing vocational courses
can facilitate them to gain jobs after prisoning, leading to reduce the burden of
society. For instance, criminals are trained by various experts in different fields
and they are taught how to work properly like farming, sewing, so they look for a
stable job after prisoning and manage to improve their living standards, as
result, reduce the rate of criminals.
In conclusion, both measures are justifiable types of the criminal’s level of
seriousness and each carries certain advantages. We should depend on the
current situation and punish criminals adequately.
