TEST 1

SPEAKING PART 1: SOCIAL INTERACTION

Let’s talk about: Games and Sports
1. Which indoor games do you play regularly?
I often play table tennis, do yoga, and dance
2. Which indoor games are common in your hometown?
People in my hometown often do Yoga and Gym
3. Do you take part in any outdoor sports regularly? (Which?)
Yes. I play badminton with my husband in the park near my house every day
Now, let’s talk about: Keeping Fit
4. How often do you do any exercise?
Every morning, it’s really good for our health
5. Do you prefer to exercise alone or in a class? Why?
I like to exercise in a class. It would be fun if we do exercise with friends
6. What do you think is the best type of exercise? Why?
It must be yoga as it not only improve our health but also prevent diseases

My Situation is that My
volunteer group is
organizing a trip to help
children in a
remote class. There are
three options that I am
considering (con-si-đơ-
ring) such as books,
clothes and movies.
From my point of view,
the best choice is BOOK
because of some
following reasons.
The first reason is that
Book helps children
broaden their knowledge.
The second reason
could be explained that
Book helps to develop
their creative (cờ-ri-ây-ti)
thinking . Last but
not least, Book opens
their outlook and gives
them more opportunities
(óp-pơ-tiu-ni-ti-s) to
get good jobs in the
future
In contrast, there are
several reasons I don’t
choose other options
clothes and movies.
Firstly, living in the
remote area lacks a lot of
modern equipment to
watch movies. Secondly,
children’s fashionable
clothes in the city are
quite different from
children’s clothes in the
remote area, so it is quite
hard to choose suitable
clothes for these children
After weighting the three
options, I think books will
be my best choice
because of its
conveniences and
usefulness)

PART 2: SOLUTION DISCUSSION
Should we learn English with native teachers or with Vietnamese teachers?

There are two options that I am considering: learning English with native teachers or with
Vietnamese teachers. From my point of view, the best choice is learning with Vietnamese
teachers because of some following readings.
Firstly, Vietnamese teachers often study English grammar very carefully. Sometimes their
grammar is even better than that of native speakers. Therefore, if students want to improve
their grammar to use English correctly, learning English with Vietnamese teachers can be very
effective.
Secondly, Vietnamese teachers are the ones who understand the most common mistakes
Vietnamese people make when learning English thanks to their rich experience in their learning.
Therefore, they will orient a much more streamlined and effective exam preparation route for
students.
Last but not least, the learners can freely share difficulties and seek for support from
Vietnamese teachers. Teachers will explain and help learners overcome language and cultural
barriers.
In contrast, there are several reasons why I don’t choose to learn with native teachers. Not
everyone can learn English effectively with native speakers especially beginners. Language
barriers can make learners feel discouraged and unmotivated to learn.

After considering 2 options, I think learning with Vietnamese teachers is the best choice.
PART 3: TOPIC
Describe a person who has strong influence on you

Model Answer 1:

I am going to talk about my mother who has played an essential role in my life. She is
my guardian, my friend and my role model.

My mother is in her forties now, but she still maintains a youthful look. In terms of personality,
she is an extremely compassionate and kind-hearted person who always takes care of her
children. She really is a mother and a friend to me as she always gives me valuable advice and is
willing to stand by me through all the ups and downs of my life. Although sometimes
she drives me crazy due to her being a perfectionist, I still hold so much pride and respect for
her.

I am also influenced by her strong-will. Ever since she was young, she had to learn to
be independent as my grandparents were very busy and constantly on the go. She had to take
care of almost everything: her younger brother, household chores and herself. Such
challenges shaped her into the strong person that she is now.
Her determination, as well as her perseverance, are really something for us to look up to. And I
keep reminding myself every day to be as strong as my mother, a real-life “wonder woman.”

Model Answer 2:
A father is a hero to his children, and the sacrifices he makes to bring smiles to his family are
incomparable. My father had always been my inspiration, and he still is. He is my greatest
mentor also. The way he influenced and motivated me in different stages in my life to become a
good human being, to fight against the odds in life, to attain the success and most importantly
to be happy in life are exemplary. I want to be a father to my children the way he had been to
me.

I know him from the very first day of my life. In fact, I bear the genetic codes he has. The way I
was attached to my father in my childhood shaped my psychological development. I still feel a
strong bond between us - more like the way I felt as a helpless child.

He is a university professor and teaches physics to his students. He is a much-revered master to

his pupils. He loves to read books, visit historical places and experience new cuisines. He often
goes out fishing and has a tough-luck while catching fishes! Besides, he likes classic movies and
we often watch movies together. 'It's a Wonderful Life', a Hollywood classic is his favourite
movie. Umm, to say more about him... he hates when people break their commitments and
when his students cheat on an exam. People who know him in person say that he is a humble
and honest man who has been helpful to others all his life.

He had been there when I needed him and he still is my greatest shield. He encouraged me to
try over and over again. I always thought that failure is a shame and the end, but he pointed
out that our failures are our greatest lessons in life. He taught me to study out of interests, not
only to score in the exams. I still learn from him. He has invisibly shaped my character and I am
greatly influenced by him to attain excellence.
