Cooling Load Calculation-1
Introduction
• The primary function of air conditioning is to maintain conditions that
are comfortable for human or required by product or process within a
space. To perform this function equipment of proper capacity must
be installed. The equipment capacity is determined by actual
instantaneous peak load requirements.
• It is very important to evaluate the cooling load components for this
purpose
Methods of Cooling Load Calculation
CLTD – Cooling Load Temperature Differential Method
TETD – Total Equivalent Temperature Differential Method
TFM – Transfer Function Method

Composition of Cooling Load
• Outdoor Loads (External Loads)
• Internal Loads
• Ventilation Load
Cooling Load (cooling/heating) Breakdown
• External Loads
• walls, roofs, windows, sky lights, doors, partitions and floors
• Internal Loads
• Lights, people, appliances and equipment
• Infiltration air leakages and moisture coming inside
• System
• ventilation air, duct leakages and heat gain, reheat fan and pump energy
