Digital twin notes:
A digital twin is a virtual representation of a real-world object, system, or process. It mirrors the physical counter-
part's characteristics and behaviors, allowing for simulation, monitoring, and optimization. Digital twins are updated in
real-time using data from sensors and other sources, enabling accurate modeling and decision-making
The different types are:
1. Digital Twin Prototype (DTP): This subtype includes all the designs, analyses, and processes needed to
realize a physical product. The DTP exists before the physical product is created, serving as a virtual proto-
type that helps in the design and testing phases
2. Digital Twin Instance (DTI): Once the physical product is manufactured, each individual instance of the
product has its own digital twin, known as the DTI. This digital twin remains linked to its physical counterpart
throughout its lifecycle, continuously updated with data from the physical product
3. Digital Twin Aggregate (DTA): This subtype aggregates data from multiple DTIs. The DTA can be used for
broader analysis, such as understanding overall product performance, conducting prognostics, and learning
from the aggregated data
