The Earth is the living planet because it composed of the following:
Lithosphere – land
Hydrosphere – water
Atmosphere – gases
Biosphere – living things
The Philippines is an archipelago because it composed of many Islands. It has many
landmasses and bodies of water. The three main Islands are Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao. The importance of the geographical location of the Philippines is having
many natural resources including the renewable resources that Filipino people are using
everyday. Scattered land areas, we also have many bodies of water where we catch our
sea foods. The major bodies of water are oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes.
Example
Landmass
Cebu City
Gapan City
Metro Manila
Australia
Canada
Japan
United Kingdom
Bodies of Water
Pacific ocean
West Philippine Sea
Nile river
Pasig river
Laguna lake
Geographic Information System (GIS) is used to locate any places on Earth. It has the
coordinate system, the longitude and latitude.
The Atmosphere is the invisible blanket of gases on Earth. It is the main source of
Oxygen and many gases that living organism needs to survive. There are five layers of
the atmosphere. It is important for the weather and climate of any areas.
Two atmospheric phenomena is happening, solar and lunar eclipses. It is the positions
of the SUN-EARTH-MOON, that is why it is called a system.
The solar eclipse happens when the sun, moon and the Earth lines up in one straight
direction. The moon blocks the light from the sun, the Earth will experience darkness.
People can not look directly when solar eclipse is happening, it can permanently
damage our eyes. We can use specialized eyeglasses to wear.
The tilt position of the Earth and the amount of light energy from the sun are reasons
why different places on Earth have many seasons.
In the Philippines, rainy or wet season and sunny or dry season. In other parts of the
world there are winter, spring, summer and fall.
Reminder:
Bring your Map of the Philippines during the Science Examination.
DO YOUR BEST!
