THREE Hello and thank you for purchasing ‘The Three Little Pigs’ fairytale sequencing activity
pack!
Litll4 The story sequencing cards provided are intended to be used as a ‘select what suits’
resource to cater for the individual needs of the children in your class. For example, for
those who require minimal, you may choose to include only four images, but for those who
PIGS
can be extended you may like to give those students eight picture cards to sequence
(example and option may be to add the wolf climbing up the chimney and also including the
wolf blowing EACH house down).
There are three versions to choose from, but you can add or subtract from either set.
If you are using more or less than six of the cards, I would suggest having the children
attach them onto a long strip of card.
Page 13/14 can be used as a further option to sequence the story pictures. Here you just
print the page, fold along the lines for a pamphlet style book and cut/paste the pictures in
order inside (on the opposite blank side of the page).
Change it up:
For a different way to sequence the story, simply cut the pictures and make it into a little
flip book for the children. They can then use the picture cues to conduct an oral retell of the
story.
Oral Retell Recording Sheets:
You can use the oral retell printables to scribe the children’s retell of the story. Different
versions are available to suit your classroom needs and teaching style.

Pop-stick Puppet Theatre Characters and props
Use the following pages to print laminate and cut out the story
characters, scenery and props then use for children to children
retell the story.
Suggestions for use: Once laminated, attach a pop-stick to the
back of the characters (leaving a little to hold at the bottom), or
attach to felt and have children use the characters to retell the
story.
If using a pop-stick to attach the the characters, it would be cute
used in a ‘puppet theatre style box’, or with a ball of play dough
attached to support/weigh the characters as they retell the events
of the story.
You can easily make a puppet theatre by painting an old cardboard
box and cutting out a panel from the front.
The pages with the speech acts as a great prompt to remind
children what the characters say. These are also great for using
as a small discussion about why some text is in capitals and has
exclamation marks. The children could also use these to practice
their use of voice (tone and intonation) when pretending to be a
character.
This is a great activity to develop comprehension skills, sequence
events in a story and to develop oral language and speech in
children.
BONUS: The ‘scene’ mats can also be used as play dough mats. If
using as play dough mats, get the children to make their favorite
character, or design a new house for the pigs and or wolf.
