Assessment: Emerging technologies and
practices
This assessment has been designed for you to demonstrate the skills required to identify and
document emerging technologies and practices. First, you will research, identify and document
emerging technologies and practices. Next, you will evaluate and report on these to seek
approval for implementation. When successful, your final task will be to develop and document
a strategy to implement the technologies and practices.
The assessment is divided into three (3) tasks as follows:
1. Identify and document emerging technologies and practices
2. Evaluate and report
3. Strategies for implementation
This assessment has been designed for you to demonstrate the skills required to meet the
above tasks in line with the nationally recognised skillset requirements. To achieve a
satisfactory result, your submission will must fulfil all conditions of each task.
Part of this assessment will also be confirming your ability/prepare you to work effectively in
the industry, for this reason it will be assessing the following:
Oral communication - Uses clear, easy-to-understand language, translating industry-
specific terminology into plain English when necessary
Navigate the world of work - Recognises opportunities to enhance personal
professional development, Takes personal responsibility for adherence to legal and
regulatory responsibilities relevant to own work context
Interact with others - Discusses ideas and complex information on issues and
developments in the IT industry
Get the work done - Recognises some general design and operating principles of digital
tools
Your submission must:
Be completed independently, other than where external input is required, i.e. gathering
feedback.
Include all information required of each task.

1. Ensure you have completed and reviewed all learning guide activities.
2. Be comfortable with the aspects of the learning guide.
Before you begin this assessment create a new Microsoft Word file called ICTICT426-WB
YourName.docx. This document will be what you must submit to your Trainer, containing your
answers to the assessment tasks.
Once you have completed all tasks:
• Ensure that each and every file required has your name listed at the front of the
document.
• This should be your first and last name so that we can clearly identify whose work it
is.
• Proofread your work.
• If there are multiple files, include all files into one zipped archive, with the archive
named as UNIT CODE-ASSESSMENT NUMBER YourName.zip.
• For example, ICTICT426–WB JenniferSmith.zip
• Save and retain a copy of your work for your own records.
• Submit all documents at the same time; delays in uploading may delay your marking.
If your performance in this task is deemed unsatisfactory, your Trainer will provide you with
feedback and an action plan, including areas to focus on to improve your skills and/or
knowledge to perform the task. Once you have had the opportunity to practice these skills, you
can arrange to be re-assessed in this task.

Request Our team's expansion has caused issues with sharing media between
photographers and the design team. Currently, photographers return their
cameras after a shoot, the design team downloads the photos to the
server and copies them to local computers for editing.
This process is inefficient and a growing bottleneck.
We need:
The ability to upload and share photos from our boats at sea using
5G wireless, laptops, phones, cameras, or other equipment.
Storage capacity for terabytes of photos in the cloud.
Software and methods that are easy for staff to use.
Modern software to stay ahead of our competitors.
Could you please research some different solutions to improve our current
process (below) of retrieving photos from divers.

1. Cameras are returned to the office after a diving photo
shoot.
2. SD cards are removed from the cameras and placed in
the office's SD card box.
3. SD cards are plugged into a card reader, and photos are
copied to the server.
4. Once copied, the SD cards are formatted and placed in
the completed box.
5. Divers pick up formatted SD cards for the next photo
shoot.

Task 3: Meeting to discuss cloud storage solutions
3.1 You will meet with the client (your trainer) and discuss your findings as well as get feedback
on your research and report from Tasks 1 and 2. In consultation with your manager, decide
which storage solution is the best for the client moving forward.
In the meeting you need to discuss the following points:

Make decision on most suitable cloud storage solution and gain approval to proceed
