2. Why is Tariff Commission important in International Trade?
- Tariff commission is important for international trade because it serves as one of the
important systems in our country since it provides protection from the threats of other
country because tariff and taxes are specifically given to the items/goods that are
allowed in our country. On the other hand, tariff commission provides financial support
to our country since the money that are generated from the tariff and taxes are use for
the economy of our country and if we have a good trading system the other country will
be interested to import on our country.
3. What is the relationship between Tariff Commission & Bureau of Customs. (1.2, & 3
include your references)

- According to section 1603 “Functions of the commission” of CMTA states that the
commission:
(b) Study the impact of tariff policies and programs on national competitiveness and
consumer welfare in line with the economic objectives of the government;

(g) Review the trade agreements for negotiation and trade agreements entered into by
the Philippines and make recommendations, if necessary, on the consistency of the
terms of the agreements with the national policy objectives;

this means that The BOC is responsible for customs administration, including the
assessment and collection of duties and taxes on imported goods, as well as the
prevention of smuggling and illegal trade activities. The Tariff Commission, on the other
hand, is tasked with conducting studies and making recommendations on tariff rates
and trade policies to support the country's economic development goals. The Tariff
Commission in the Philippines advises the government on tariff-related matters,
including the adjustment of tariff rates and the effects of trade policies on domestic
industries. While the BOC implements customs regulations and procedures, it may seek
guidance from the Tariff Commission on matters related to tariff classification or trade
disputes.
