Topic: SDG 2 “Zero Hunger “

Grade: IX
Month: October

Objective: The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 02: Zero Hunger aims to end hunger,
achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030. This
project encourages students to explore the root causes of hunger, its impact on different
communities, and possible solutions through collaboration across different subjects.

Subjects Integration

Social Science
● Geography: Research how different
geographic regions are affected by hunger
due to climate change, natural disasters, or
conflict.
Task: Create a world map showing
hunger-stricken regions and analyze the
causes behind the disparity.
● Economics/Political Science: Investigate
the economic policies and political
measures taken by governments and
international organizations (such as the
FAO) to address hunger.
Task: Write a report analyzing a case
study of a country that has successfully

identifying key factors.

Science
● Biology: Study the role of nutrition in the
human body and how malnutrition affects
physical and cognitive development.
Task: Prepare a presentation on the impact
of micronutrient deficiencies on human
health and suggest affordable and
sustainable dietary solutions.
● Chemistry: Explore the science behind soil
fertility, pesticides, and fertilizers, and
how chemical interventions can either
contribute to or help solve food insecurity.
Task: Conduct an experiment on soil pH
or nutrient levels and suggest ways to
improve soil quality for better crop
production.

Maths
● Analyze statistical data related to global
hunger (e.g., food production, population
growth, poverty levels).
Task: Use graphs and charts to represent
data and predict future trends in food
security. Write a mathematical analysis of
how agricultural productivity can meet
future food demands.

English
● Research and write an essay on the theme
of hunger in literature or global media
coverage.
Task: Write a persuasive speech or an
article about how society can work
together to end hunger, ensuring the article
is both informative and engaging for the
audience.
Art & Design

campaigns highlighting the causes, effects,
and solutions to global hunger.
Task: Collaborate to create a visual exhibit
or campaign, promoting awareness about
Zero Hunger in the class.

Learning Outcome:

⮚ Explore the relationship between food security, agricultural practices, and sustainable
development.

⮚ Develop critical thinking and research skills to propose viable solutions to food
insecurity.

⮚ Enhance skills in data collection, analysis, creative presentation, and teamwork.

⮚ Foster empathy and responsibility towards global issues.

Assessment:
Students will be assessed based on their participation in discussions, the quality of their research
and presentations, and reflections on their learning journey. Emphasis will be placed on critical
thinking, research, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
