EvENT GuIdElINEs

RHEToRIx

Are you ready to challenge your knowledge, refine your research, and present your ideas?

TECHNICA’25 brings you Rhetorix, a platform where you can showcase your expertise in
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering through compelling research and powerful
presentations.

Event Structure

This flagship event consists of two rounds:

-Stage 1: Abstract Submission

-Stage 2: Final Presentation

Event Timeline
Abstract Submission

- Deadline: 17th March, 2025 end of day.

Final Presentation

- To be informed to the shortlisted teams in due course of time.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

- The abstract must be based on a topic related to Metallurgy and Materials Engineering.

- It should be a brief summary (maximum 250 words) of your paper.

- The abstract should be submitted in PDF format only.


- Submissions will be checked for authenticity and plagiarism. High levels of plagiarism will
lead to disqualification.

- Abstracts should be submitted via Google Forms, and the link will be shared in this rulebook
and with college coordinators.

Team Formation

- Each team must consist of two or three members.

- All team members must register for TECHNICA’25 after their abstract is selected.

Round 1: Abstract Submission

- Teams must submit an abstract within the given deadline.

- The topic should be relevant to Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

- Selected teams will proceed to the final round.

Round 2: Final Presentation


- Shortlisted teams will prepare a PowerPoint presentation (PPT) based on their research.

- The PPT must be submitted within the given deadline. Late entries will not be entertained.

- Each team will get eight minutes to present their research. A warning will be given after
seven minutes. Exceeding the time limit will result in a penalty.

- A Q&A session will follow the presentation, where the judges and audience may ask
questions.

Judging Criteria
Each criterion is scored out of 10 points:

1. Knowledge of Topic – Depth of research and understanding.

2. Content Quality – Relevance, accuracy, and impact of the paper.

3. Logical Flow – Clarity in structuring and presenting ideas.


4. Presentation Skills – Voice modulation, confidence, and pace.

5. Response to Questions – Ability to handle queries convincingly.

INdusTRIAl PRoblEm solvING (IPs)

Do you have the innovative mindset to tackle real-world industrial challenges? Industrial
Problem Solving (IPS) at TECHNICA’25 is your chance to redefine the metallurgical
landscape with groundbreaking solutions.

Event Structure
IPS consists of two rounds:

- Round 1: Abstract Submission

- Round 2: Presentation Round (For shortlisted teams)

Abstract Submission Guidelines (Round 1)

- Participants must submit a 300-word abstract detailing their proposed solution and its
feasibility.

- The abstract should be typed in a Word file and submitted within the deadline.
- Selected teams will be notified in designated WhatsApp groups about the next round.

- Note that the problem statement will be informed in due time.

- Abstract submission deadline: 17th March, 2025 end of day.

Eligibility & Team Formation

- Open to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year undergraduate students.

- Participants can compete individually or in teams of up to three members.

- The team leader is responsible for submitting the abstract.

Presentation Round Guidelines (Round 2)

- Shortlisted teams will present their proposed solution in front of the jury.

- Presentations should include:

- Problem identification (your understanding of the problem)

- Innovative solution approach

- Cost benefits and industrial impact

- Reference materials, images, and sources must be cited at the end of the presentation.

- Presentation Duration: 8 minutes, followed by a 2-minute Q&A session.

- Teams should minimize slides to ensure they complete their presentation within the allotted
time.
- The entire team must be present in the hall during the final round.

Judging Criteria
Each criterion is scored out of 10 points:

1. Understanding of the Problem – Depth of research and relevance.

2. Feasibility of the Solution – Practicality and industrial applicability.


3. Innovation and Uniqueness – Novelty of the idea.

4. Cost Effectiveness – Financial and operational benefits.

5. Presentation Quality – Clarity, confidence, and response to questions.

Event Structure

Metal Morph consists of two rounds:


- Round 1: MCQ Test (Group Participation)

- Round 2: Practical Metallography Challenge

Eligibility & Team Formation


- Open to 2nd and 3rd-year undergraduate students.

- Participants must compete in teams of two or three members.

Round 1: MCQ Test


- A multiple-choice questionnaire will test teams on the fundamentals of metallography.

- The top-performing teams will advance to the next round.

Round 2: Sample Preparation & Microstructure Analysis

- Shortlisted teams must prepare a sample and analyze its microstructure.

- Teams will be evaluated on:

- Precision in sample preparation

- Clarity of microstructure observation

- Accuracy in identifying metallurgical features

Judging Criteria

Each criterion is scored out of 10 points:

1. Knowledge of Metallography – Understanding of metallurgical principles.

2. Sample Preparation – Quality and precision of the prepared sample.

- This is a team event.

- Each team must have two members.


Quiz Structure

QUIZZICA will be conducted in two rounds:

- Preliminary Round (Written)

- Finals (On-Stage)

Preliminary Round
1. 20 questions will be displayed on the screen one by one.

2. Teams must write their answers on the provided answer sheets.


3. The top six teams will qualify for the Final Round.

4. In case of a tie, star-marked questions will be used as tie-breakers.

5. Teams must carry their own pens.

Finals
- The top six teams will compete in the final round.

- The format of the final round will be revealed after the prelims.

- Expect fast-paced action, buzzer rounds, and challenging questions.

The METAL QUIZ has two exciting rounds:

Preliminary Round (Elimination Round)


1. Earn points: Get +1 point for each correct answer.

2. No penalties: No negative marks for wrong answers.

3. Spelling matters: Wrong spelling means your answer won’t be accepted.

4. Tie-breaker: Star-marked questions will help resolve ties.

5. Top 5 advance: The top 5 teams will move on to the Final Round.

6. Quiz Master’s decision is final: Their word is law!

Final Round
The Quiz Master will explain the Final Round rules before it starts. Stay tuned!

moCk PlACEmENT INTERvIEw


A 3-Stage Competition

Mock placement interview is a fun competition that simulates a real job placement process.
It consists of three stages, each eliminating participants until the final winners are announced.

Stage 1: Online Assessment

- Bring your laptop and stationary.

- No mobile phones or electronic devices allowed.

- Be present at the designated location (no remote participation).

- This stage tests your aptitude and technical knowledge.

Stage 2: Group Discussion

- Selected participants from Stage 1 will be divided into groups.

- Each group will discuss a given topic within a set time.

- Be respectful and professional during the discussion.

Stage 3: Interview
- Shortlisted candidates from Stage 2 will face an interview panel.

- Bring a printed copy of your resume.

- Dress professionally (like a real job interview).


- Be punctual to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Are you ready to put your coding skills to the test? Codeiac, the ultimate programming
challenge at Technica’25, is designed to push your problem-solving abilities and logical
thinking to the limit. Compete against the brightest minds and prove your expertise in coding
and algorithms!

Eligibility

- Open exclusively to 1st and 2nd-year undergraduate students.

- Individual participation only; no teams allowed.

Event Structure

Codeiac consists of two rounds, each designed to assess your coding proficiency and problem-
solving skills.

Round 1: Preliminary Coding Round


- Participants will face a set of coding problems of varying difficulty.

- The problems will test logic, algorithms, and data structures.

- Submissions will be evaluated based on accuracy, efficiency, and time taken.

- The top participants will qualify for the final round.


Round 2: Code Battle

- Finalists will compete in a live coding round with a fresh set of challenging problems.

- Each problem will have a specific time limit.

- Participants must write and execute their code within the given constraints.

- The fastest and most optimized solutions will score higher.

- Open to all undergraduate students.

- Teams must consist of 3 to 4 members.

- Use of mobile phones or external help is strictly prohibited during the hunt.

- The number of rounds will depend on the total number of participating teams.

- The shortlisting process after each round will be determined accordingly.

- All details will be informed before the game begins.

- The final round will involve reaching the last checkpoint by deciphering the given clues.

- Speed & Accuracy – How quickly and correctly teams solve each clue.

Event Overview
• Each teams comprises 4 players.

• A total of 3 matches will be played across different maps.

• The cumulative points from all matches will determine the winner.

Scoring System

Teams will earn points based on their placement And kills in each match:

Placement Points:

1st Place: 15 points


2nd Place: 12 points

3rd Place: 10 points

4th Place: 8 points

5th Place: 6 points

6th – 10th Place: 4 points

11th – 15th Place: 2 points

16th – 25th Place: 0 points – Kill Points:

1 point per kill

The total score for each team will be the sum of their placement and kill points across all
Matches.

mINI mIlITIA

Tournament Format
• The tournament follows a knockout format.
• Teams compete against each other, and the losing team is eliminated.

• Top 4 teams will proceed to the semifinals.

• Semifinal winners will compete in the final match to determine the champion.

Team Composition

• Each team must consist of 4 or 5 players.

Match Mode

• The tournament will be played in Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode.


• The team with the highest kill count at the end of the match wins.

• Match duration and kill limit will be predefined.

Tournament Structure
• Knockout Rounds: Losing teams are eliminated after each match.

• Semifinals: The top 4 teams play against each other.

• Final Match: The two winning teams from the semifinals face off for the Championship.

Scoring & Winning Criteria


• The team with the highest kill count at the end of the match wins.

• In case of a tie, the team with the higher positive score will be declared the winner.

INdusTRIAl vIsIT

The Industrial Visit under Technica’25 is designed to provide students with hands-on
exposure to real-world industrial operations in metallurgy and materials engineering. This
visit aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
