Processing with batch.ai
Running batch.ai is incredibly simple and user friendly.
1. Launch the software by going to “File” - “Plug-in Extras”.
2. Sign into your account.
3. Edit your anchor images: Start with roughly 10% of the gallery in anchors. Remember to
always place your anchor images at the beginning of each new set and label them your
preferred method within LR. We recommend separating by camera in LR before processing
as well for ensuring best profile matching.
4. Select all photos: Now select all your photos for batch.ai including your anchor images.
5. Confirm your Anchor Type and Select the tools you’d like to include. You have the
freedom to exclude any B&W images from the gallery as well as include auto-straightening
and tool replication.
6. Masking Subject and Sky: When auto-computing masks with batch.ai please allow for
added processing time. Batch.ai will intelligently and automatically place all subject and sky
mask elements from your anchor images to their respective sets.
7. Click Run batch.ai! From here the intelligent software will take over while you live more and
edit less.
a. After completion confirm that within the history panel your images have 2-3 new
line items. They should be “Image Assessment”, “Smart Adjustments” and “Smart
Straightening” (if you used auto-straighten). If you only see the “Image
Assessment” line. Please reach out as this does not reflect a completed batch.
Best Practices
Every photographer, shoot, camera, lens, and subject pose a unique situation for batch.ai and its
intelligent editing approach. Play around and see what works best for you and your process. Here
are a couple tried-and-true methods for success.
1. Batch.ai works strictly on photo selection. It will only process what you select and tell it to.
2. Remember to always place your anchor images at the beginning of each new set.
Depending on the level of control you’d like over your photos you can place more or fewer
anchors throughout your gallery. Some users have found great success using 1 anchor for
the entire gallery and others prefer more oversight from set to set by using around 10-12%
anchors throughout the gallery.
3. When working with multiple cameras, users have found success
separating and processing by camera or lens through filtering your metadata in library
mode. Remember to always place at least 1 anchor per camera when following this method.
4. When processing black and whites we recommend running them separately from color
batches. It’s best to run your color batch and then follow up with your black and white
batches through the filtering process.
5. When stepping away from the computer, adjust your energy settings so your computer is
awake and connected to the server throughout the duration of the session.
