Lloyd
I’ve worked as a full-time artist for five years. After leaving art college, I did some
part-time jobs working as a waiter and washing dishes in a restaurant. But then I
started to sell some paintings so I gave up my other jobs. Most of my paintings
are of city street scenes – they are full of people just living their lives. People buy
my paintings because they can see places they know in them.
Emma
I’m still very early on in my career as an artist. I trained as a doctor and my art is
slowly changing from a hobby to a job. I work with wood and metal. I’m interested
in showing my feelings through my work. It’s very personal to me. Maybe that’s
why I don’t sell very much. I still work as a doctor two days a week. My parents
are very proud of me, especially my mother, who draws a lot.
Amna
My parents wanted me to be a doctor, like them, but I had no interest in studying
medicine. I first became interested in art when I was at school. I came first in a
competition and I was given a painting set. and I have never looked back! I was
lucky enough to get a place at university on a course which helped me improve
my painting skills. They’re actually quite good now. I’ve managed to earn enough
money from my art for the past two years, so I don’t need to do other work.
