Activity: Career Guidance Orientation for Grade 12 Senior High School
Students on Curriculum Exit.

Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum-Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum –


DM-OUCI-2021-00-15 dated January 18, 2021, entitled Career Guidance
Program (CGP) for SY 2020-2021, wherein this program aims to establish
guidelines and procedures in its implementation. Furthermore, it aims also to
guide the secondary learners in choosing career tracks that they intend to
pursue through informed career choices towards becoming productive and
contributing individuals.

In connection with this, MAURARO HIGH SCHOOL conducted an


Orientation of Grade 12 Students on Senior High School Curriculum Exits for
the Grade 12 Learners dated last February 20, and February 2025
respectively.

The program started with the singing of the Philippine National


Anthem, followed by a prayer. Checking of attendance or acknowledging the
participants were also being conducted. This is followed by the giving of
welcome remarks of the Officer Incharge of the day Mam Hazel P.
Saralde,PhD.

Mr. Eric M. Pitogo, the Grade 10-Bonifacio Teacher Adviser, was the
resource for the first session which provided information on the different
senior high school curriculum exits and regulated professions that will
facilitate their career decision making as they pursue college. He tackled the
different factors affecting learners’ life and career choices considering that
deciding for career and life is not an easy task for Grade 11 learners. Miss
Shery A. Cantago, another Grade 10 adviser of section Rizal was the speaker
for the second session. Her discussion centered on the significant role of self-
awareness in the process of choosing an SHS track. Furthermore, this
module introduces the learners to the benefits of Senior High School and how
it will equip them with skills needed for whichever path they may choose
after SHS, be it higher education, employment, or entrepreneurship.

Mr. Ranulfo L. Visaya Jr., a Senior High School Teacher, was the third
speaker for JHS and the first speaker for Senior High School. For Grade 10
(JHS) he focused on helping the learners increase their self-awareness by
learning more about and understanding their interests, talents, and values
better. The information that the learners will acquire in this session will help
them make appropriate career choices and decisions. In this session, the
learners identified possible career options based on their interests, talents,
and values. Learners also gained information about the different Senior High
School tracks and their corresponding aptitude requirements
Mauraro High School conducted a Career Guidance Orientation cum Youth
Development Activity for Grade 12 students last March 28, 2023 at the SHS building
of Mauraro High School, Mauraro, Guinobatan, Albay. This activity was realized
through the initiative of Mrs. Gemma Salomon, the guidance counselor of the SHS
Department, together with the DSWD Municipal Link.

The activity aimed to empower and prepare the students to become


competent and knowledgeable for whatever endeavor they would like to pursue in
the future. It aimed to comprehensively orient the learners about the different exits
that the K-12 curriculum offers, and equip them with the skills, knowledge, and
attitude they will be needing for future success.

The Career Guidance Orientation cum Youth Development Activity started


with the singing of the national anthem followed by a prayer through an audio-
visual presentation. At 9:00 in the morning, the first part of the whole-day activity
commenced. The DSWD team facilitated and engaged the learners in tackling their
topic on youth development “Dream on, Dreamer”. The team administered various
activities that pique the interest of the students. A comprehensive lecture about the
said topic also followed. Learners were actively engaged and immersed in the topic
discussed. The session ended around 11:30 in the morning.

In the afternoon, the sessions on Career Guidance started with a prayer


followed by a welcome message from the supportive principal of Mauraro High
School, Mrs. Evelyn V. Oyardo. After which, the first session in the afternoon
commenced with the topic “Entering the Exits” tackled by the resource speaker,
Mrs. Gemma O. Salomon. The speaker comprehensively explained to the Grade 12
students their possible options after they have finished their schooling as Senior
High School students. Learners were engaged and were given enlightenment as to
what opportunities and occupations they can opt for.

After the first topic, the next session followed entitled “Discovering the C’s”
discussed comprehensively by Ms. Mitzi Casquejo. In this lecture, students were
engaged through an energizer which led to the discussion at hand. Students were
actively participating and listening to the discussion as they discover the skills and
attitude needed to thrive in the present times especially when entering the bigger
world. Learners were given activities that they have accomplished with regard to
the topic.

The next discussion was entitled “The Choice of Choosing” excellently


facilitated by Mrs. Chona A. Llaneta. The resource speaker tackled the topic with
ease and expertise. This session was geared towards multiple activities letting the
students understand their options and career track. Personal interests, skills, and
abilities were also considered and encompassed in the activities given.
The next topic introduced was entitled “Myself in Other’s Shoes” discussed by
Ms. Rose B. Orencillo. This session guided the students in understanding one's roles
and responsibilities and encouraged the spirit of collaboration, cooperation,
compassion, understanding, etc. towards self and others. The topic was thoroughly
engaged with the students through various activities.

Lastly, the session that followed was entitled “Future Combo, Activate!”
discussed by Mr. Reygie A. Ayleon. This topic was comprehensively discussed by the
resource speaker, and various activities were given to the learners. Learners
despite the compact afternoon schedule were still actively engaged and understood
the given topic through activities.

In conclusion of the day’s program, a closing message was given by the


designated SHS Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Gemma O. Salomon encouraging and
empowering the learners to become ready and equipped for the endeavors they will
embark on in the future.
