Speech for English Students

Good [morning/afternoon], everyone,

It’s an absolute pleasure to be here with you today as we embark on an exciting journey to master
the English language. As students, there’s a lot you’re about to discover and learn, and while this
path may seem challenging at times, I can assure you that the rewards will be well worth the effort.

Let’s begin by talking about what you’re going to need to succeed in learning English.

First and foremost, you’ll need patience. Learning a language is a gradual process, and progress may
not always be immediate. There will be moments when you might feel frustrated, but remember,
that’s all part of the learning experience. Be patient with yourselves, and celebrate even the smallest
milestones, because every bit of progress counts.

You’ll also need consistent practice. English, like any language, requires regular practice. Whether
you’re speaking, listening, reading, or writing – practice makes all the difference. So, make it a habit
to engage with English every day. The more you practice, the more confident and fluent you will
become.

Now, let's talk about the method that will help you succeed. There are many ways to approach
learning English, but here are a few methods that I recommend:

1. Immerse yourself: Surround yourself with English as much as possible. Watch English movies or
TV shows, listen to English music or podcasts, and try to read books, articles, or news in English. The
more you hear and see the language, the more you’ll pick up naturally.

2. Focus on communication, not perfection: It’s important to understand that making mistakes is
part of the learning process. Don’t be afraid to speak – even if you're unsure. The goal is
communication, not perfection. The more you practice speaking and writing, the better you'll
become.

3. Use technology: There are countless apps and websites that can help improve your English. From
vocabulary-building apps to online dictionaries, or even language exchange platforms – use
technology to your advantage.
4. Break it down: Learning English can feel overwhelming at times. Break down your goals into
smaller, more manageable tasks. For example, focus on learning a handful of new words every day,
or tackle a specific grammar rule each week. Celebrate your progress along the way.

But even with all of this, one of the most important elements you’ll need to stay on track is
motivation.

So, how can we stay motivated?

 Set clear goals: Set small, achievable goals for yourself, like "I want to learn 10 new words
this week" or "I will watch a 30-minute English TV show every day." These goals will give you
direction and a sense of accomplishment when you achieve them.

 Remind yourself of your purpose: Think about why you want to learn English. Is it to travel?
To advance in your career? To make new friends from around the world? Keep your personal
motivations in mind, and remember that every step you take brings you closer to your goal.

 Track your progress: Keep a journal or create a progress chart. Write down what you learn
each day and celebrate the small wins. This will help you see how far you’ve come and will
motivate you to continue.

 Make it fun: Learning a language doesn’t have to be boring. Find activities that you enjoy,
like playing English games, reading books that interest you, or having fun conversations with
friends. Enjoy the journey!

Lastly, always remember that learning English is a lifelong journey, and it’s okay to take your time.
Embrace the process, enjoy each step, and know that the more effort you put in, the greater the
reward will be.

I believe in each of you, and I know you can all succeed. Stay patient, stay consistent, and most
importantly, stay motivated. Together, we’ll make this an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

Thank you, and let’s get started!
