NEW Ministry of Education Online Learning
Graduation Requirement
For students who entered Grade 9 in the 2020-2021 school year
(current Grade 9s and 10s), all students must earn a minimum of two
online learning credits in order to graduate.
There will be an opt out option that will be made available to students
in the coming months. With parental consent, a form can be
completed to OPT OUT of the requirement to earn two online credits.
More details to follow for both those opting out and those that plan on
earring those two credits through online classes.
Course Requests must be completed by the end of the day on
February 17th, 2022. When clicking submit, you are
confirming that you have your parents approval for your
course choices. You will be locked out by the system at
midnight.
Do not panic if you are not 100% certain of your course
selections, you will have an opportunity around mid-term to
review your choices and ask Guidance to make any changes.
Please make sure you are a member of the Guidance Google
Classroom for your grade.

SHSM programs provide a Red Seal Diploma when all components
have been met. Students sign up for this program in Grade 11 or 12.
Students will complete Certifications, Experiential Learning,
Sector-Partnered Contextualized Experiences, and a bundle of specific
senior credits.
Course Requirements:
1. Two Co-op Credits
2. Four Senior credits in the Major
3. One Senior English Credit
4. One Senior Math Credit (two for Construction)
5. One “other” Senior Credit, usually from the Business or
Science Department

● Over the next two weeks you will choose courses during P1 (9), P3 (10),
P5 (11) following the schedule sent to teachers.
● ALL students need to complete their course selections by February 17;
the system will lock you out automatically at midnight.
● DO NOT PANIC! You will have time to review your courses and change
them. Guidance Teachers will be with you as you choose your courses
over the next 10 days.
