Exploring

Values
EXPLORING MY VALUES
A JOURNEY TOWARDS YOUR TRUE SELF
What are values
Values are the beliefs that define what is most important to you. They guide you
in life and as a result, they guide your choices in life. For example, if a value that
you have is spirituality, it is possible that you spend time doing meditation,
praying or reading books on the topic, while someone who values wealth may
spend their time working or looking for better investments.

Understanding your values will help you in your Self-Discovery and Self-
Exploration journey as you will become clearer and more focused and you will be
able to align your goals, actions and time to what is more important to you.

It is important to keep in mind that:

Values are often passed down by family and society. To begin exploring your
own values it is important to recognize the values of the important people who
surround you and then see if/how they have influenced you. Then you can
decide what you keep and what you let go.
Values tend to change overtime. It is possible that your teenager values are
different from your values as a young adult and different from your values as a
parent.
It is okay to not know. It is okay to start today. It is okay to explore. It is okay
to change opinion. As long as you are consciously working on your Self-
Discovery and Self-Exploration path, it is all okay. The answers, the clarity, the
feeling of being centered will eventually come. Take one tiny step at a time.

When your values are clear

to you, making decisions
becomes easier.

EXPLORING MY VALUES
A JOURNEY TOWARDS YOUR TRUE SELF
How to Use this Value Exploration Workbook
In this workbook, I propose different tools and exercises to explore your values
from different ankles. Feel free to skip any sections that do not apply to you.

Tools & Exercises:

Exploring Values of Groups that surround me
Exploring Values of Important People in my Life
Exploring Values of a person I respect and look up to
Exploring Values of myself & others
Exploring Values in different Life Areas
Discovering my Personal Values
Clarifying my own Values

What do I know now

At the end of each exercise, there is a small section named "What do I know now".
I concider this to be an important point for your development, as you are basically
asked to pause a moment to reflect, digest what came to the surface and put it in
words.

Important to know
There’s no right or wrong way to answer.
There are no better or worse, higher or lower "value" of the values.
This workbook aims at helping you gain clarity of your own values.
You are not supposed to have all the answers.

I have learned that as long as I hold

fast to my beliefs and values - and
follow my own moral compass -
then the only expectations I need
to live up to are my own.

- Michelle Obama

EXPLORING MY VALUES
AFTER CHOOSING YOUR VALUES, ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

How do I live by these values? What behaviors am I already showing that are
aligned with my values?

What behaviors would I like to adopt, or do more of, to be more aligned with these
values?

What behaviors or habits are not consistent with these values and I would like to
let go, or do less of?

Are there any more values I would like to live by? If so, what behaviors, habits,
actions I would like to adopt to manifest these values in my life?
