they are usually played on fiestas,
religious, and civic celebrations.
• The growth of bands was
remarkable that every town
used to have two or more
bands.
• A parading brass band is
called a marching band.

Piccolo
• Shorter than the flute
• The sounds it produces
is thinner than the flute

bore, and a flared bell

Saxophone
• commonly used in classical
music concert bands,
chamber music, and solo
repertoire, military bands,
marching bands, and jazz

A brass instrument is a musical
instrument that produces sound by
sympathetic vibration of air in a tubular
resonator in sympathy with the
vibration of the player's lips.
Trombone
• sound is produced when
the player’s vibrating lips
(embouchure) cause the air
column inside the
instrument to vibrate
• the name means “large
trumpet”
Trumpet
• has the highest register in
the brass family
• played by blowing air
through almost-closed
lips , producing a
“buzzing” sound that
starts a standing wave
vibration in the air
column inside the
instument

defined as a musical instrument
sounded by striking, shaking, or
scraping.
Cymbals
• consist of thin,
normally round plates
of various alloys
• the heavier the cymbals
the louder the volume
Snare Drum
• known as a side drum is a
ever-present percussion
instrument known for its
cylindrical shape and
powerful, staccato sound
• played with drum sticks
Bass drum
• produces a note of low
definite and indefinite
pitch
• known as percussion
instrument and vary in
sizes
♡ The national anthem of the Philippines,
“Lupang Hinirang”, was originally
entitled “Marcha Nacional Filipina.” It
was composed by Julian Felipe in
marchtime tempoandinitially performed by
the San Francisco de Malabon band at the
Proclamation of Philippine Independence
on Jun 12, 1898 in Kawit, Cavite.
Las Pinas Bamboo Organ
♡ A Philippine National
Treasure, the Bamboo Organ
can be found in St. Joseph’s
Church Las Pinas City. It is
made of 902 bamboo pipes. It
was compleated in 1824
under the supervision of Fr .
Diego Cera.
Musikong Bumbong
♡ Musikong Bumbong are
Filipino marching bands that
use woodwind instruments
that are made of bamboo.
♡ The D’ Original Malabon
Musikong Bumbong started
as a plain Banda de boca
(meaning “bibig” or mouth).
Musikong Bumbong
♡ Felix Ramos was both
the founder and inventor
of the bamboo instruments.
The first members of the
band were all Katipuneros.
Pangkat Kawayan
♡ Popularly known as the
“Singing Bamboos of the
Philippines”
♡ It is an orchestra that
plays music using non-
traditional bamboo
instruments.
Anglung Ensemble
♡ It is a small group of
musicians who plays
anglung bamboo
instruments. The
angklung instrument is
made of bamboo-rattle
tubes attached to a
bamboo frame.
