INSTRUCTIONS
The assignment Part A and Part B must be done in GROUP and entirely the group original
work. Please ensure that you are aware of the rules of concerning plagiarism.
Plagiarism is presenting somebody else’s work as your own. It includes: copying information directly
from the Web or books without referencing the material; submitting joint coursework as an individual
effort; copying another student’s coursework; stealing coursework from another student, and
submitting it as your own. According to the procedures, the lecturer will investigate the suspected
plagiarism, and if found to have occurred, it will be dealt with according to the procedures.
DETAILS OF ASSIGNMENTS
The purposes of the assignments are to:
▪ Respond to behaviour issues in early childhood classrooms using appropriate guiding
principles, approaches, and techniques.
▪ Present ways of using the environment to manage behaviour in early childhood.
▪ Report on own ability to manage early childhood behaviour and classroom.
For this assignment, you are required to prepare the following:
▪ ONE (1) role play.
▪ ONE (1) group presentation.
▪ ONE (1) reflective log.
PART A: ROLE PLAY [20%]
In a group of THREE (3) members, choose any challenging behaviour that children may
behave, then create a script and conduct a role play.
What to include in your script and role play?
▪ Describe a challenging behaviour in children.
▪ What is the effective guidance intervention can be taken by the teachers or parents to
overcome the challenging behaviour? Relate to the principles, approaches and/or
techniques.
▪ How can the teachers or parents address and respond to the challenging behaviour?
Subsequently, you are required to decide a role among each group members then play the
respective roles accordingly and creatively. The script of role play should be clearly
describing the role of each member and the scene of the challenging behaviour.

✓ You should include the details of role play (Title/Topic, Members and Roles, Scene),

PART B: GROUP PRESENTATION [20%]
In this assignment, in a group of THREE (3) members, you are required to prepare a group
presentation and using Power Point Slides (PPT) as your visual aids to describe the
relationship between the environment and the behaviour.
What to be included in the group presentation?
▪ Select only ONE (1) type of environment, either physical environment or social
environment.
▪ Then, explain how the environment with the effective classroom management
practices could nurture appropriate behaviour. You may relate the discussion to the
relevant theories or any recent references.
▪ Design a behaviour agreement chart creatively by including FIVE (5) examples of
challenging behaviours (instead of), realistic expectations (try this), consequences (do
not meet the goals), and reward (meet the goals).

Assume you are an early childhood educator in a learning centre, you are required to provide
a reflective log to report on your own ability to manage early childhood behaviour and
classroom.
What to be included in the reflective log?
▪ How can you play your role in fostering appropriate behaviour in an early year’s
environment?
▪ Reflect on your personal beliefs, possibilities, and limits of expertise in managing the
children’s behaviour and classroom.
