Subject: nuisance created by the use of loudspeakers in marriages and functions

[This part contains the objective of writing the letter. It must be concise and can
be taken directly from the question.]
(one line space)

Ma’am/Sir
(one line space)

[The first paragraph is simply an extension of the subject]

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned
authorities towards the nuisance created by the use of loudspeakers in the late night marriages and functions.
(one line space)

[the middle paragraph must contain all the details and should be the longest – Divide the paragraph into
the details of the problem and the solutions required – treat this as a trick to crack letter to editor – every
letter to editor basically poses a problem to which solutions are needed. divide your second paragraph
into problems and solutions and you shall never have any problem]
Now-a-days, the use of loudspeakers at religious places, political gatherings, marriages etc. has become very
common sight. The organizers of these events do not bother to turn off the loudspeakers after the stipulated time
for their use is over. In a lot of cases, the use of loudspeakers continues till late in the night. This creates a lot of
nuisance and disturbance for a lot of people. From the studying young ones to the suffering old ones everyone
gets disturbed because of these loudspeakers. There must be strict punishments for those who violate the rules.
Also, there must a certain volume level that should not be exceeded.
(one line space)

[the last paragraph must express what message/solution should the editor convey to the concerned
authorities via columns of their newspaper – it should end with a hope that the message shall reach the
concerned authorities – NEVER ASK EDITOR TO PUBLISH YOUR LETTER]
I hope that the concerned authorities will look into this matter and put stricter rules in place ensuring that the
use of loudspeakers does not continue after the stipulated time is over. Their efforts in this regard would be
much appreciated by all.
(one line space)

Yours sincerely [Please don’t write your’s]

❖ The Delhi administration has launched a campaign against the use of polythene bags. Write an article
on ‘Hazards of Polythene Bags’ in about 150 words for your school magazine.

Hazards of Polythene Bags

By- Aastha Mehta

Polythene bags have become very popular for carrying our shopping home. These bags are light, handy,
attractive and strong. Shopkeepers find them easy to store and customers regard them as beneficial too. But
they are a big threat to our environment.

Polythene bags have many adverse effects, for example, they are not biodegradable and produce noxious
gases when burnt. They choke the drains and provide breeding grounds to deadly germs. Animals and birds
mistake them for food and when they eat them, their digestive systems get disturbed. These bags never
decay and the fertility of the earth is lost due to their excessive use. Thus, the greenery of the earth is
hampered. The poisonous gases produced on burning the polythene bags cause serious diseases like
bronchitis, allergy, cancer, etc in human beings.

It is people’s responsibility to stop the use of polythene bags. People of Delhi must unite and must take an
active part in the anti-polythene campaign launched by the Delhi administration to completely the usage of
polythene bags.
