PROBLEMS ON THE ROAD
 Traffic is very dense on all routes into the city at the moments because of this evening’s football cup
final.
 The heavy traffic is not expected to die down/ease off till around 10 pm. So walk or cycle to the match
if you want to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
 Traffic is currently tailing back over ten kilometers, following an accident near junction 14. (a
tailback: line of slow or stopped traffic.)
 We were stuck in slow-moving traffic for an hour on the way to the airport.
 The traffic was crawling along because of the roadworks. (moving very slowly)

 After the accident the traffic slowed to a crawl and then finally came to a standstill. (all the vehicles
stopped moving)
 The police went after him because he jumped the lights. (drive through a red traffic light without
