Lab 4

MS WORD
How to add formulas to your document
Following is how you can add formula and equations in your document:

Go to Insert->Equation

𝜃 = 𝜃 − 𝛼 ∙ ∇𝐽(𝜃)
In this equation page you will see several options of symbols and structures you can chose from.
A special feature called ink equation in tool tab would let you draw the equation and convert it to
text form.

∑𝑟 + 𝑛
𝑖=0

Insert Refrences And Citations

While writing papers using sources is a common task. However you cannot copy and paste from
those articles as it is. The basic approach is to paraphrase them e.g if the article on the internet
names as the cats by Anna Hearth says that “Orange cats are the most cute species of cat” You can
paraphrase it as

Anna Hearth said that the species of the cat that is the most cute are the orange cats.

After this you have to write a proper refrence to the paper which is added as following.

For this class IEEE notation is being used.

Go to the place you want to include refrence

Anna Hearth said that the species of the cat that is the most cute are the orange cats [1].

Press refrences->Citations and Bibliography->Style IEEE->Insert Citation->Select the type of source

and fill important parts then hit ok.

After this go to the page where you want to show refrences and
Refrences Tab→Citations and bibliography→Bibliography→Select one.
Bibliography

[1] A. Hearth, "Cats Documents," 1 2 2023. [Online]. Available: [Link] cats.

Figures Labels and Table of Figures

When inserting images in document we can label our figures and can show them in a table of figure
after our table of contents page:

Insert an image->right click→Insert caption→Chose your label and then ok

Result:

1. 1 Strawberry Cake

Now to make the list of figures go where you want to insert the table. Give heading List of figures. Go
to the next line then.

go to→Refernces→Captions→Insert Table of Figures (Here you can change your settings as you like)

Table of figures
1. 1 Strawberry Cake ............................................................................................................................... 2

FootNotes and End Notes

You would have seen text like this at the end of books or research articles:

These are footnotes which carry additional information on the text refrence or explanation.

To insert Footnotes

Place the cursor where you would like a footnote refrence to be inserted. Then

Refrences→Footnotes Tab→Insert Footnote1

1
This is a footnote
Lab Task

1. Add atleast one Equation to your document.

2. Add more than two images in your document and make a List of figures

3. Add references to your citations atleast three using IEEE style of citation.

4. Add atleast one Footnote in your document.

The document should be properly formatted and aligned.

Similar is the end note
