Voice and Identification Signals of VOR
IDENT consists of 2~3 different alphabets or digits with
the respective transmitting station and the 1020 Hz sine
wave signal whose amplitude is modulated by the carrier
wave is keyed and transmitted. The Morse code is keyed
at the speed of 7 words/minute and the identification
signal is repeated at the rate of 3 or 4 times in every 30
seconds
30 Hz AM Signal: 30 %
9960 Hz Sub-carrier : 30 %
IDENT: 10 % Max.
Voice Signal: 30 % Max.

Collocation of VOR and DME/TACAN
In addition to the azimuth information, VOR can be coll
ocated with DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) or T
ACAN in order to provide the distance information nece
ssary for the blind flying.
When providing the direction and distance information t
o the civil and military aircrafts, the VOR is operated in
collocation with TACAN and when the direction and dist
ance information is provided only for the civil aircrafts, t
he VOR is operated in collocation with DME (Distance
Measuring Equipment).
