Project information
Given the necessary tools, equipment and information, you are
expected to perform the following Five practical project works. The instructor should ask oral
questions on which she/he is not satisfied by yours performance.
Assessment venue: Well-equipped assessment centre or real work place
Total time for all projects 5:00 hrs.
Project 1:-Perform Field Crop Productions
Under these projects students is expected to identifying, organize and prepare tools and
equipment’s used for performing field crop production and sowing maize seed.
Task1:-Identifying and preparing tools and equipment used for performing field crop
production and personal protective Equipment (PPE) with functions.
Time allotted: 0:30minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to Identifying and preparing tools and
equipment used for performing field crop production and PPE.

Task 2. Sown Maize Seed


Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to perform sown maize seed based on the
following information’s
 The field will be well prepared before planting
 Measure 4m Length, 3m width
 To sowing space between plant 25cm and space between row 75cm.
 To use amount of fertilizer 200kg/ha of UREA and 100kg/ha NPS.
Based on the above information answer the following questions.
A. Calculate the area to be sown?
B. How many rows are performed on the give Area?
C. How many Plants per row are performed?
D. How many Plants are performed on the give Area?
E. Depending the above context how many maize seed sown on the one hectare?
F. Depending the above context how many fertilizer (UREA and DAP) are required per

Project 2:-Perform Horticultural Crop Productions
Under these projects students is expected to identifying, organize
and prepare tools and equipment’s used for performing Horticulture crop production and planting
Papaya seedling.
Task 1. Planting Papaya seedling Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to perform planting papaya seedling based on the
following information’s
 The field will be well prepared before planting
 Measure 8m Length, 6m width.
 To sow space between plant 1m and space between row 1.50m.
Based on the above information answer the following questions.
A. Calculate the area to be sown?
B. How many rows are performed on the give Area?
C. How many Plants per row are performed?
D. How many Plants are performed on the give Area?
E. Depending the above context how many Papaya seedlings are planted on the one hectare?
F. Calculate the area of per plant?
Task 2. Potato planting Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to perform planting potato tuber based on the
following information’s
 The field will be well prepared before planting
 Measure 5.4m Length, 8m width
 To sowing using space between plants 30cm and space between rows 75cm.
 Space between plot to plot 0.5m
 For one plot --- width 3.75m * length 5.4m = 20.25 m2.
 A tuber was planted at 10-15cm depth in the soil.
 Urea fertilizer 165kg/ha was applied after 45 Days of planting and just before flowering
in side application.
 Weeding, cultivation and ear thing up (2-3 until canopy closure) were performed as per
the recommendation.
 Use NPS fertilizer 150kg/ha.

Project 3. Carryout Basic Nursery Work.
Under these projects students is expected to identifying, organize and prepare tools and
equipment’s used for carryout Nursery Work, identifying criteria of nursery site selection,
identifying types of nursery, identifying types of nursery seedbed, prepare nursery seedbed and
prepare pot.

Task 1. Prepare nursery seedbed


Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to Prepare nursery seedbed based on the
following information’s
 Selected nursery site according to criteria, clearing nursery site, plough and leveling.
 Measure 6m Length, 5m width, length of seedbed 5m length and 1m width, path 50cm.

Based on the above context answer the following questions.
A. Calculate total area to be prepared nursery seedbed?
B. Calculate area of one seedbed?
C. How many seedbeds are performed on the given total area?
D. Prepared raised seedbed, sunken seedbed and flat seedbed on the total area.
E. How many row are performed depending on sowing raised seedbed pepper seed space
between row 20cm. Don’t forget watering before and after sowing pepper seed and
mulching after sown pepper seed.
F. Assume that you are prepared pot. The pot diameter is 20cm are prepared. The
prepared pot on the sunken seedbed. So how many pots are prepared on the sunken
seedbed?

Task 2:- Prepare Pot Time allotted: 0:30 minutes


Mixing, Filling and arranging soil for potting

 Spade/ shovel

 Ordinary agricultural soil

B. Procedures
 Sieve the soil mixture through 2mm mesh to remove clods/stones
 Mix the ingredients and turn with shovel
 Keep the soil mix moist while filling
 Fill the bag and firmly compact the lower 1/3 compacted container
 2/3 should be gently compacted. You can use scoop/ funnel to fill the bag
 Avoid air pockets in containers during the bag fill
 Place pots in an upright position
 Place pots in straight rows in blocks/ beds in an upright position
 Place pot in bed:-to prevent the pot from falling away the beds should be framed by Stone
Timber etc.

Project 4. Identify and determine Basic Properties of Soil.


Under these projects students is expected to identifying, determine organize and prepare tools
and equipment’s used for soil sample, identifying basic properties of soil(physical, chemical,
biological), identifying soil sampling techniques, take soil sample.
Task 1: Take soil sample Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to take soil sample based on the following
information’s
 Prepare tools and materials used for soil sampling.
 Measure 5m Length, 5m width.
 Use diagonal soil sampling techniques or methods.
Based on the above context answer the following questions.
A. Explain Soil sampling procedures?
B. List and Explain properties of soils?( physical properties, chemical properties,
biological properties)
C. Write information that should be recorded during taking soil sample?
D. List and explain how to determine soil texture of soil after taking soil sample?
E. Perform soil texture by rapid feel method and interpret the results?

Project 5. Undertake Prepare Compost
Under these projects students is expected to identifying, organize and prepare tools and
equipment’s used for prepare compost, identifying criteria of compost site selection, identifying
compost preparation method (heap and pit), undertake compost preparation

Task 1 Prepare Compost by Pit Method


Time allotted: 0:30 minutes
Instruction: - under this task, you are expected to prepare compost based on the following
information’s
 Prepare tools, equipment’s and materials used for compost preparations.
 Prepare raw materials for compost preparation.
 Measure 1m Length, 1m width and Depth 1m.

Based on the above context answer the following questions.


A. Calculate total area to be prepared compost?
B. Calculate Volume of pit?
C. What is the difference between raw materials and materials used for compost preparation?
D. List the procedure of put the first layer to the last layer? And explain the use of each layer?
