1. Process Simulate applications
The Tecnomatix suite contains the following applications:

• Process Simulate—for users who need full Process Simulate connected.

• Process Simulate Standalone—for users who need to work in disconnected mode.
• Process Simulate VC Lite—for users who perform virtual commissioning.

Note
• When performing installation, you require administration rights. Therefore, when launching the
installation, right-click the installation file and select Run as administrator.
• For Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 UAC (user access control) settings should be set to default.
• Perform installation directly from the installation file on the installation DVD by launching Setup.exe.
• The default installation folder is <Program Files>\Tecnomatix_<VERSION>.
◦ In a 64bit setup, the setup program creates a folder named eMPower and nests it under the
installation folder. The 64bit setup files are stored in eMPower. If you install a client application on
the same machine, the setup program creates a folder named eMPower32 and also nests it under
the installation folder. The 32bit setup files for the client application are stored in eMPower32.
◦ If you select an installation path that does not end with a Tecnomatix folder, the setup program
automatically creates a folder named Tecnomatix and nests it under the installation folder. For
example, when performing a StandAlone 64bit installation under C:\apps:
◊ The installation folder is C:\apps\Tecnomatix_<VERSION>.
◊ 64bit files are stored under C:\apps\Tecnomatix_<VERSION>\eMPower.
◊ 32bit files are stored under C:\apps\Tecnomatix_<VERSION>\eMPower32.

3. Installing TCCS on a client machine

When installing Process Simulate on Teamcenter as an independent application (invoked without

Teamcenter Rich Client) on a machine on which the Teamcenter client is not installed, use the TCCS
standalone setup to install Teamcenter FCC. This is invoked via the Teamcenter kit (available at <tc
kit> \ /wntx64/additional_applications/tccs_install). Teamcenter Client Communication System (TCCS)
manages communication and file transfer between Teamcenter clients and servers. TCCS contains the File
Management System client cache (FCC), which uploads files from workstations to a Teamcenter volume
and also downloads requested files from the volume to the workstation.

Users can also run this installation for setting additional TCCS options controlling the interaction with
the Teamcenter server. For more information, refer to the TCCS documents included in the Teamcenter
documentation. If one uses TCCS to define the Teamcenter Environment configuration, it is necessary
to run the <Change Teamcenter Server> command from the Tecnomatix Doctor to specify which
Environment to use.

TCCS is installed either via RAC installation or as a standalone installation, in one of the following ways:

• Install Teamcenter RAC—For a client machine with both MPP and Process Simulate. RAC also uses TCCS.
Installing RAC also installs TCCS.
• Run TCCS Setup—For a client machine without Teamcenter RAC. Run
<Tc kit folder>\wntx64\additional_applications\tccs_install\tccsinst.exe.

4. Configuring Process Simulate to load from
the desktop

Loading Process Simulate directly from the desktop can done when the Teamcenter Manufacturing Access
application (TcM Access or TcMA) is installed. This is based on the Active Workspace platform and provides
tools for accessing and loading data from Teamcenter to Process Simulate. This installation is required
when Process Simulate is used as an independent application, as well as for other Process Simulate on
Teamcenter functionality such as <Mfg Search>, <Resource Search>, and <Load Study>.

Procedure

1. Install Process Simulate on Teamcenter.

2. Install TCCS - you can invoke this via the Teamcenter kit (available at <tc kit> \ /wntx64/
additional_applications/tccs_install).
3. Set FMS_HOME to the TCCS installation folder.
4. Change the <Teamcenter Server> using the Tecnomatix Doctor.
5. Start Process Simulate on Teamcenter.

To load Process Simulate directly from the desktop, you must define Teamcenter server either during
installation or afterwards using the Tecnomatix Doctor Change Teamcenter Server tool.

• ActiveWorkspaceHosting.PS.URL—Specify the URL used by Process Simulate to communicate with
Teamcenter Manufacturing Access. For example, for a server named MyServer on port 7007, type:
http://MyServer:7007/EasyPlan. There is no default value and the preference must be manually
entered into the database.
• TCMA_Resource_Types—Specifies the resource types that TcMA displays in the <Resource Search>
window. Valid values are object type names (both the item types and revision types). The default value
is: Mfg0MEResourceRevision. The system shows all objects of type Mfg0MEResourceRevision and its
subtypes in the view.
• TCMA_MFGSearch_WeldTypes—Defines the supported types for a weld category search in the <Mfg
Search> window. This preference controls the content in the Type list of values (LOV) during a
discrete operation query. See also Configuring Teamcenter Manufacturing Access in the EasyPlan
Deployment Guide.

4. Proceed to Performing a Process Simulate Client Installation.

Side-by-side installation

When installing the Tecnomatix suite of applications, you can install new client setup types while retaining
your current ones. This is known as Side-by-Side Installation and is useful if you want to work with different
Tecnomatix versions for multiple customers or to debug your data by running it under different software
versions. One version is always active and this version is launched by default until you change the active
version.

You can install multiple eMServer-based or multiple Process Simulate on Teamcenter versions. For
example, you can install an earlier eMServer-based version (e.g., 12.1, 12.1.3) and then eMServer-based
version 2402 on the same machine. Similarly, you can install Process Simulate on Teamcenter version
12.1.3 and then version 2402 on the same machine.

Note
The Common Folder is a location to be used by all Tecnomatix versions. The Tecnomatix Version
Selector is installed in this location.

Procedure

1. To access the selector, right-click the Tecnomatix Version Selector icon and select Run as
administrator.

Current active Tecnomatix version is a read-only field and notifies you which version is currently
active.

Note
You can also view the currently active version by running mpmversion from the command prompt.

2. If you wish to change to another version, right-click the Tecnomatix Version Selector icon and select
Run as administrator. The Tecnomatix Version Selector appears.
3. Set Change active Tecnomatix version to to the desired version and click OK.
The system switches to the version you selected. This may take a few minutes, after which the system
displays a success message and offers you the option to view the installation log file.

Note
• You can only uninstall the active version. Uninstalling a version that is not currently-active
may result in an unstable system. Therefore, before running the uninstall procedure, use the
Tecnomatix Version Selector to activate the version you wish to uninstall.
• If you remove the older version of two side by side installations (older than 12.1.1),
the remaining (newer) version does not automatically become the active version. Use the
Tecnomatix Version Selector to switch to it.

Performing a Process Simulate client installation

When performing a Client installation, administration tools (available in Start → Programs →
Tecnomatix → Administration Tools) are installed automatically.

 When performing a Client installation, the fully qualified name of the server should be available on the
client (either via the DNS or by specifying it explicitly in the hosts file).

Procedure

1. From the Welcome screen, click Next.

The Setup Type dialog box is displayed.

2. Select Install Client Applications and click Next.

The Custom Setup dialog box is displayed.

• The Process Designer application. Not relevant for Teamcenter installations.
• Process Simulate. This is the complete client application.

4. The Controllers setup dialog box is displayed. You can select one or more Tecnomatix robot
controllers to install.

Check the Use an existing rrs.xml file option if you wish to select and install a previous or already
existing rrs.xml file in <INSTALL DIR>\Robotics\OLP instead of the default file installed by the
Tecnomatix setup. This option is unselected by default.

5. The Product Excellence Program (PEP) screen displays.

• AGREE—PEP collects information on how you use the application which allows Siemens Digital
Industries Software to improve the product and its functionality. No information is ever exposed to
outside parties.
• DECLINE—No information is collected.

Note
If you decline to participate in the Product Excellence Program, then when running Process
Simulate, clicking

opens the Product Excellence Program screen, enabling you to join.

Tecnomatix Doctor.

When you agree to take part in the Product Excellence Program, you also have access to the

your email to allow us to be in contact with you, and you can take a web survey.

6. (Optional) The default location is displayed. If a different location is required, click Change in the
Custom Setup window.

 Choose the folder in which you want Tecnomatix to be installed and click OK.
The Custom Setup dialog box reappears.
7. Click Next.

 8. Click Change and navigate to the system root of the eMServer. Click OK and Next.
The eMServer and eMSAgent Names dialog box is displayed.

 This dialog box allows you to select an eMServer and the Notification Agent to which your client
application will connect. The system pings the server and the notification agent in order to check that
there is a working connection. Note however, that the installation continues even if the ping fails.
9. In the text box, enter the eMServer and the Notification Agent server name. Ensure that your entry
contains an active server installation.
10. Click Next.
If you selected the Process Simulate Teamcenter Platform, the Teamcenter Manufacturing Access
dialog box is displayed.

 Set one of the following:
• Teamcenter Web Server URL - Enter the complete URL of the desired Teamcenter server.
• Set TCCS Environment - Enter a Teamcenter environment.

Note
◦ For information on how to configure Teamcenter Environments, refer to the Installing TCCS
on a client machine. TCCS allows you to select from a list of preconfigured Teamcenter
environments.
◦ The Teamcenter Manufacturing Access application is based on the Active Workspace platform,
and provides tools for accessing and loading data from Teamcenter to Process Simulate.
Prerequisites for using Teamcenter Manufacturing Access features are listed in TcMA
Installation in Easy Plan Deployment.

11. Click Next.

The Delete Old Items dialog box is displayed.

 Check Delete old items if you wish to delete the items that the setup program has detected
remaining from previous Tecnomatix installations. If you do not wish to delete these items, leave
the checkbox clear.
12. Click Next.
The Ready to Install dialog box is displayed.

The following Process Simulate applications do not require a connection to Teamcenter:

Simulate eMServer. All Process Simulate Standalone capabilities are fully supported. Refer to the

• The Process Simulate VC Lite installation is an option for users who only need to perform virtual
commissioning. Refer to the Process Simulate VC Lite documentation. Refer to the Process Simulate

Installing Release Updates

Siemens provides release updates for Process Simulate on an ongoing basis, which include fixes and
enhancements. These are available for you to download and install from Support Center Downloads
and also from the Process Simulate user interface and should be installed on top of the installed Process
Simulate version.

6. Setting up Process Simulate applications in
non-English languages

• From the Tecnomatix setup DVD, perform the standard (English) installation of Process Simulate on
Teamcenter.
• From the setup DVD, open the Add-Ons\Localization folder.
• Run the .msi file for the language in which you wish to operate the Tecnomatix application. If you
installed more than one application, the language change applies to all of them.

Note
◦ For Windows 10, it is necessary to run the setup as an administrator. You can right-click to open a
command prompt using Run as Administrator, and run the .msi from the window that opens.
◦ Make sure that the Beta Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support checkbox in the
Administrative Language settings is not checked.

7. Install local HTML documentation

Siemens Digital Industries Software allows you to install HTML documentation locally. After installing the
Siemens Documentation Server, and downloading and installing product documentation packages for
the relevant software(s), you can host HTML documentation for multiple languages and versions on your
local host or intranet.

The first step in this procedure describes how to access the detailed instructions for installing the
documentation server and product documentation packages from the Siemens Support Center. This
document can be viewed in HTML format from the Support Center or downloaded in PDF format.

Note
You should view this document for hardware and software requirements, and for additional information
as required.

After accessing the detailed document (step 1 below), you can follow all its directions to complete the
installation. Alternatively, you can proceed from step 2 below to the end of this procedure. These steps
describe the basic installation procedure, using the default parameters.

8. Performing a Process Simulate silent
installation
Tecnomatix provides an option for silent installation using the standard MSI silent installation procedures
and parameters. Tecnomatix applications can be installed via the command line, while specifying the
desired products and installation location. Administrators can set the following parameters (or pass them
to the installation via the command line) to activate/deactivate some of the setup behavior and streamline
the installation process. The parameters listed below can be modified according to the values in the table:

After you have already installed some Tecnomatix applications, you can use the silent mode installation to
add further Tecnomatix products to your setup. You must provide all the necessary parameters for the new
products as well as all the parameters of the existing products in order to retain the current setup.

All parameters submitted using the Installation Wizard are given as command line parameters according to
the rules specified in the table below:

• For silent installations, you must add the SILENTMODE parameter with the value of TRUE; it is not
sufficient to specify /q to the mesiexec.
• All of the parameter's values must be enclosed in double quotes (").
• The parameter's names and the SETUPTYPE, SILENTMODE values are case sensitive.
• When modifying a setup in silent mode, you can only add product(s). You cannot remove product(s). If
you want to remove (or add and remove) product(s), run to the regular installation program and select
Modify.
• When modifying a setup in silent mode, you cannot change the setup type, for example, to change the
setup type from Client to Client-Server.

The Reboot parameter contains the following options:

REBOOT value Description

Force Always prompt for a restart at the end of the installation. The UI always prompts the
user with an option to restart at the end. If there is no user interface, and this is
not a multiple-package installation, the system automatically restarts at the end of the
installation. If this is a multiple-package installation, there is no automatic restart of the
system and the installer returns ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_REQUIRED.
Suppress Suppress prompts for a restart at the end of the installation. The installer still prompts
the user with an option to restart during the installation whenever it encounters the
ForceReboot action. If there is no user interface, the system automatically restarts at
each ForceReboot. Restarts at the end of the installation (for example, caused by an
attempt to install a file in use) are suppressed.
ReallySuppress Suppress all restarts and restart prompts initiated by ForceReboot during the installation.
Suppress all restarts and restart prompts at the end of the installation. Both the restart
prompt and the restart itself are suppressed. For example, restarts at the end of the
installation, caused by an attempt to install a file in use, are suppressed.

9. Installation information for administrators
Overview
The Tecnomatix installation program uses native msi (Basic MSI project) compiled with InstallShield 2020
R3 to achieve a robust installation program and maximum transparency to the installation process.

During the installation, the setup executes several custom actions according to the setup type and
hardware/software configuration of the target machines. These custom actions are listed in the tables
below with brief descriptions of their purpose and values in the installation.

You can assign additional parameters (see below) to the installation to block some of the setup default
behavior.

During the setup, the installer invokes the following additional applications (installed with the Tecnomatix
application files):

• PackageAdmin.exe - creates the eMServer COM+ application

• RegSvr64.exe and RegSvr.exe - register some of the setup COM objects
• eMSAgent.exe - installs the DCOM eMSAgent application
• regtlib.exe - registers some type libraries
• tecnoreg.exe - launches RegSvr64.exe and regtlib.exe to register files
• installtools.dll - this is an internal c# dll and allows running several install actions, for example delete
folder
• pkzip.exe - extracts zip files

10. Removing the Process Simulate
installation
Tecnomatix installations can be removed by performing one of the procedures described below.

To remove the Tecnomatix installation using the Control Panel:

Procedure

1. Access the Control Panel and select Programs and Features.

2. Select Tecnomatix from the list of currently installed programs.
3. Click Change or Remove.
If you click Remove, the following message is displayed.

4. Click Yes to complete the removal.

To remove the Tecnomatix installation using the Start Menu:

Procedure

1. Open the Start menu.

2. Select All Programs → Tecnomatix → Uninstall → Uninstall Tecnomatix <version>.

• In general Tecnomatix uninstall should remove all items (files, folders, registry settings, environment
variables, etc.) created/updated when installing the setup. However, in some circumstances items
will not be removed, for example, if a text file is opened by an application, folders are opened in

 Explorer or command line, changes in permissions, install was performed by one user while uninstall
by another, etc. Therefore, this section is included in case Tecnomatix was not successful and some
manual steps are required.
• Manual removal of files, folders, etc. can only be done after uninstalling the program as described
above. It complements the uninstallation procedure (if necessary), but does not replace it.

11. Setting the Process Simulate client
environment

It is important to correctly adjust the settings of the Region and Language dialog box of the Windows
Control Panel.

You should determine the desired language to use for non-Unicode programs. Use the following steps to
ensure that your environment is properly set:

Procedure

1. Verify that the desired language is set in the section Current language for non-Unicode programs
of the Administrative tab of the Region and Language dialog box. If this is not the case, use the
Change system locale button of the Administrative tab to set the desired language.
2. Verify that the entry in the Format section of the Formats tab of the Region and Language dialog
box is the same as the desired language. If not, set the desired language in the Format section.
3. In the Administrative tab of the Region and Language dialog box click Copy settings to open the
Welcome screen and new user accounts settings dialog box.
4. In the Region and Language dialog box check the Welcome screen and system account and New
user accounts options.
5. Click OK button to implement Welcome screen and new user accounts settings.
6. Reboot your machine (this is necessary after applying Copy settings ).

12. Setting Chinese or Japanese as the
operating system language on Windows 10

For Windows 10 users of Tecnomatix applications in Chinese or Japanese, it is necessary to do the

following:

Procedure

1. Use the Region and Language setting in the Control Panel to set the Format language to Chinese -
Simplified or Japanese.

2. From the Administrative tab, use the Change system locale option to set the language to Chinese -
Simplified or Japanese, if not already set.

Windows64.exe on the Tecnomatix DVD.

Download CAD models for ArtiMinds from https://www.artiminds.com/9557e47a2490/RPS/ArtiMinds-

RPS-PS-Models-<version_number>.zip and extract them to the RPS installation directory (for example,
C:\Program Files\ArtiMinds\RPS-PS), overwriting existing files. After opening the ArtiMinds Robot
Configurator, the relevant CAD models are displayed.
