An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun. It makes our writing
and speaking much more specific and interesting. It gives additional information
about what the noun or the pronoun refers to. It is usually comes right before the
noun or the pronoun that it modifies.

 They live in a big house.


 She is a beautiful girl.
 Iqra is a clever girl.
 The big dog chased the car.
 A yellow butterfly is sitting on the red rose.
 The tall giraffe is eating green leaves.
 It’s a bright sunny day.
 She is wearing a shiny blue track suit.

Descriptive Adjective (Adjective of Quality)
It shows the kind or quality of noun. They show quality, size, origin, colour, shape,
taste, or some other quality of nouns and pronouns.

 Imtaiz is a clever boy.


 Haseeb is a nice guy.
 Japan is a developed country.
 My Jaan is a beautiful girl.
 My boss is an honest person.
 This box is heavy.
 She has a black dog.
 She is an intelligent girl.
 Okara is a beautiful city.
 She is an honest animal.
 He is an honest man.
 He is a funny little man.

Proper Adjectives
Adjectives formed from proper nouns are called proper adjectives. They are
generally considered as adjectives of quality.

 Turkish tobacco is highly addictive.


 Do you like French wines?
 I hate Indian tea.
 Swiss chocolates are famous all over the world.
 American jeans are probably the best jeans in the world.

Adjective of Quantity
It shows the quantity of a noun or a pronoun. It answers the question “How
much?”

 You have no sense.
 He has lost all his wealth.
 I took some notebooks.
 They had enough plates.
 He gave me all his pens.
 I have no faith in him.
 You did not take any books.
 She asked him to give half the material.
 Many students were present today.

 I don’t have much time.

Numeral Adjective
It shows how many persons or things are meant. It gives us an exact number in a
cardinal form that is one, three, ten, and an ordinal form that is first, second.

 The hand has five fingers.


 Imtaiz secured first position in his class.
 She bought six apples.
 We ordered for two cups of coffee.
 Bring me two books from the shelf.
 A week has seven days.
 December is the twelfth month of the year.
 There is only one solution to this problem.
 He shared his experience with four persons.
 Kaynat ate two apples.

Interrogative Adjective
Interrogative adjectives are words used along with nouns to ask questions. These
adjectives don’t stand on their own. These are used with nouns to ask questions.

 What manner of man is he?
 Which way shall we go?
 Whose book is this?
 Whose pen was it?
 Whose papers are these?
 Which book will he buy?
 Which team won the match?
 Which road shall we take?
 What time would the match begin?
 Whose car is this?

Demonstrative Adjective
Demonstrative adjective points out which person or thing is meant. It answers the
question: which? It also shows whether the noun they refer to is singular or plural
and whether it is located near or far.

 These mangoes are sour.


 I hate such things.
 This girl is more beautiful than Ayesha.
 This pen is very expensive.
 Look at that bill board.
 These mangoes are ripe.
 These apartments have been built recently.
 These are the clothes I was looking for.
 Those are my books.

Possessive Adjective
As the name indicates, possessive adjective is used with noun to indicate
possession. They are: My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, and Their.

 This bicycle was gifted by my grandfather.

 The dog is licking its paws.
 My computer is not working as fast as it worked in the beginning.
 Our father told us not to quarrel with anyone.
 Your cycle has been stolen yesterday.
 Your child is not doing well in the school.
 The students submitted their assignment.
 Her thoughts are too complex.
 My mind stops working when I think about that.
 I don’t want to see his shadow again.
