FOURTH QUARTER / WEEK 2 / LESSON 5

OBJECTIVE: Give the correct meaning of homonyms (pail, pale).

EN1V-IVa-b-13.6

YOUR LESSON FOR TODAY:

Homonyms are two words that have the same spelling and
sound but different definitions. The prefix "homo-," which means
"the same," and the suffix "-nym," which means "name," define
the word "homonym."
To easily remember what homonym is, always remember
that the pronunciation is similar but the meaning and spelling is
different.
Example: The homonym pair (pail, pale)

Pail Pale
(cylindrical container
with a (having a lighter skin color than
handle) normal because of sickness or
fear.)
Let’s use the homonym pair in a sentence:
1. Dad is holding a pail full of water to clean the house
2. I have pale skin because of my fever.
Another example of homonym pair used in a sentence:
1. I want a milkshake too.
2. Pass me two apples.
3. I have a 12 inches ruler
4. King David is the new ruler of the kingdom
