A sphygmomanometer, or blood pressure monitor, measures blood pressure using an inflatable cuff and a manometer. Key components include an inflation bulb for air pumping, a deflation valve for controlled air release, and index markings for proper cuff sizing. Stethoscopes, used in conjunction with sphygmomanometers, transmit sound through ear tubes and feature a bell for low-frequency sounds and a diaphragm for high-frequency sounds.

also known as a blood pressure monitor, or

blood pressure gauge, is a device used to

measure blood pressure, composed of an
inflatable cuff to collapse and then release the
artery under the cuff in a controlled manner,
and a mercury or aneroid manometer to
measure the pressure. Manual
sphygmomanometers are used with a
stethoscope when using the auscultatory
technique.

The 'inflation bulb' is a hand
pump that was used to pump
air into the 'inflatable cuff'.
The air release valve, also known as the
deflation valve or pressure release valve, is
a key component of a sphygmomanometer
that allows for the controlled release of air
from the inflated bladder.
It is an inflatable device that measures
blood pressure by stopping and then
releasing blood flow in the artery.
The index markings on a
sphygmomanometer indicate the
correct size for the cuff to use. When
the index line falls between the two
range lines, the cuff fits properly.
it is a pressure meter that
measures air pressure and
displays the reading on a dial.
The artery mark on a
sphygmomanometer, or blood
pressure cuff, indicates where to
position the cuff on the body to
measure blood pressure.
Sphygmomanometer tube
connectors connect blood
pressure cuffs to machines and
help ensure accurate readings.
Stethoscopes usually have rubber
earpieces, which aid comfort and
create a seal with the ear, improving
the acoustic function of the device.
The ear tubes, also known as aural tubes,
are hollow metal tubes that connect the
chest piece of a stethoscope to the
earpieces. The ear tubes' main function is to
transmit sound waves from the chest piece
to the earpieces.
The stethoscope's tubing is like a tunnel
that transports the sound waves.
The stem of a stethoscope is
the part that connects the
chestpiece to the tubing.
The bell on a stethoscope is the
smaller, cup-shaped end that's used
to listen to low-frequency sounds,
like heart sounds.
The diaphragm is a part of a
stethoscope's chestpiece that is used to
detect high-frequency sounds, such as
heart breathing sounds.
The binaural spring in a
stethoscope is a mechanical device
that keeps the headset in place
while allowing it to flex.
