3.2 Summary of control modules

The operating table is operated as standard with the remote
control. The remote control is absolutely necessary for using the
operating table to its full potential. If the remote control is
temporarily unavailable, due to reasons such as a flat battery, the
basic functions of the operating table can still be executed using
the column keypad. Other optional control modules are available
from Baxter.

Description

3.6 Maximum load

The operating table is approved for a maximum patient weight of
400 kg / 881 lbs. Patient weight can be extremely restricted by the
operating tabletop. See instructions for use for the operating
tabletop. The terms and conditions for equipping the operating
tabletop must also be observed.

3.7 Internal power supply (battery operation)

3.7.1 Mobile operating table column

The operating table column is equipped with batteries and the

operating table can be operated without a mains power
connection. If the batteries are fully charged, the operating table
can be used for one day of normal usage.
The battery charge status can be seen on the indicator [a1] on the
column keypad control. The electrical functions on the operating
table are blocked when the battery status reaches a certain level.
In this case, the operating table must be supplied with external
power (external power supply).
Charge the batteries daily so that the operating table can always
be used in battery mode. Even if the operating table is not used for
a long time, charge the batteries regularly to preserve their service
a1 life. Baxter recommends a charging interval of 3 months.

3.7.2 Fixed installation operating table column

The operating table column is equipped with a battery, enabling

the operating table to be operated without a mains power
connection. The battery is only used as an emergency power
supply in the event of a power failure. During battery operation,
the electrical functions on the operating table are moved at a
lower speed.
If the battery is fully charged, use of the electric function of the
operating table is possible for around 30 minutes (total duration of
movement for electrical functions).
The battery charge status can be seen on the indicator [a1] on the
column keypad control. The electrical functions on the operating
table are blocked when the battery status reaches a certain level.
Due to the short operating time of the battery, the external power
supply must be restored as quickly as possible.
Even if the operating table is not used for a long time, charge the
battery regularly to preserve its service life. Baxter recommends a
charging interval of 3 months.

Description

3.8 External power supply (mains operation)

3.8.1 Mobile operating table column

The operating table is connected to or disconnected from the

operating room's power supply via the power cable. In mains
power mode, there are no limitations to the use of electrically
powered operating table functions. The batteries are charged
2 while the device is in mains power mode.
The connection socket [2] for the mains power cable is located at
the bottom of the column.

3.8.2 Fixed installation operating table column

The fixed-installation operating table column is permanently

connected to the external power supply of the operating room
and is only disconnected by means of a separate On/Off switch on
the operating room control panel or similar devices in the event of
an emergency, or for cleaning or service purposes. The operating
table column does not have its own devices to disconnect from
the power supply. Thus the power supply facility can only be
disconnected by the customer.
In mains power mode, there are no limitations to the use of
electrically powered operating table functions.

3.9 Equipotential bonding

Equipotential bonding compensates for different electrical
potentials between live parts that may be touched in the area
3
around the patient and protects against electrical discharges.
The connecting pin [3] for the equipotential bonding is located at
the base of the mobile operating table column. The fixed
operating table column is connected to the equipotential bonding
of the operating room.

Use

4 Use

4.1 Safety instructions

– Hazard to the patient. Altering the medical device is prohibited.
The manufacturer will not be held liable if changes are made to
the components.
– Before using the products for the first time, they must first be
cleaned and disinfected according to the hygiene
specifications of the medical facility. Cleaning and disinfecting
may be performed only by trained staff and using cleaning and
disinfecting agents approved by Baxter.
– The batteries need to be completely recharged after a
significant change in temperature or humidity.
– The mobile operating table column may only be used when the
equipotential bonding cable is connected.

4.2 Charging the batteries (external power supply)

4.2.1 Mobile operating table column

DANGER
Electric shock due to missing protective conductor
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, the operating table must
only be connected to a power supply network with a protective
conductor.

DANGER
Electric shock from damaged mains power cable
• Check the mains power cable before connecting it and do not
use it if it has been crushed or if the insulation is damaged.

CAUTION
Standard requirements
The safety of the operating table is only guaranteed with the
original mains power cable.
• The operating table must be used with the original mains power
cable from Baxter only.
• Do not extend the mains power cable on the operating table.

Connecting the cable:

1. Flip up the connector socket cover [2] at the base of the
column and insert the power cable plug [11] into the
connection socket.
2. Route the cable to the socket so that no one can trip or fall
over it.
3. Plug the connector of the mains power cable into a grounded
2 power socket in the operating room.

11

24 7990011_030_07 – 2078299 – 2024-03-15

Use

4. With the mains power connection, the operating table

switches on automatically. The indicator [a3] on the column
keypad lights up.
As soon as the operating table is connected to the mains power
supply, the batteries are charged.
The mains power cable can remain connected if required and the
operating table powered permanently via the mains power supply.

a3 Disconnecting the cable:

1. Pull the mains power cable plug from the socket.
The indicator [a3] on the column keypad goes out and an
audible signal sounds.
2. Pull the mains power cable plug [11] from the connecting
socket [2] on the operating table.

4.2.2 Fixed installation operating table column

DANGER
Electric shock due to missing protective conductor
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, the operating table must
only be connected to a power supply network with a protective
conductor.

The battery is automatically charged when the external power

supply is switched on, as the operating table is securely connected
to the electricity grid.

4.3 Connecting / disconnecting the equipotential bonding cable

4.3.1 Mobile operating table column

Connecting the cable:

1. Connect the cable plug [12] to the connecting pin [3] at the
base of the column.
2. Plug the other end of the cable into the equipotential
bonding in the operating room.
3
12 Disconnecting the cable:
1. Disconnect the cable plug [12] from the connecting pin [3] at
the base of the column.
2. Pull the cable plug from the connection point in the operating
room.

4.3.2 Fixed installation operating table column

The operating table column is permanently connected to the

equipotential bonding of the operating room.

Use

4.4 Operating states

4.4.1 Switching on the operating table

Battery operation The operating table can only be switched on with the column
keypad and not with the remote control.
Press the [i1] key on the column keypad.
The indicator next to the [i1] key lights up and an audible signal
i1 i1 sounds after a few seconds. The operating table is only ready for

operating tabletop shuts down automatically 1 hour after the last
key press on a control unit. An operating table mode may need to
be switched on again in the interim for longer surgeries without
the operating table controls being used.
It is also possible to switch the operating table off at any time using
the remote control or column keypad:
Press the [i2] key for more than 2 seconds. An audible signal

on the operating tabletop are in different positions. In this case,
when the leg sections are spread and above one another, there is
a risk of the right leg section colliding with the left leg section. Stop
the function before any collision and adjust the leg sections so that
they are not on top of each other.

4.6.6 Further functionalities
