1942
Military Order Number 2
● June 11, 1942- The Philippine Executive Commission also known as The
Japanese
Executive Commission during that time established the commission of
education, health,
and public welfare
1943
● October 14, 1943- the Japanese sponsored republic created a ministry of
education.
● Under the Japanese regime the teaching of Tagalog, Philippine history and
character
education was reserved for Filipinos
1945
● Feb 27, 1945- The department of instruction was made part of
Department of Public
Instruction.
The Japanese Six Goals/Principles for Philippine Society Through
Educational System:
● According to Sagveevna (2022), she stated that during the Japanese
military rules in the
Philippines, they had the following goals for the Philippine society, which
they wanted to
achieve through the educational system:
● To stop depending on Western powers such as the United States of
America and Great
Britain, and to develop, promote, and enrich the local Philippine culture in
opposition to
Western culture.
● To accept and support the idea that the Philippines is part of Greater East
Asia CoProsperity Sphere, so that good friendly relations are established and
maintained between
the Philippines and Japan.
● Raise moral among the local population, place less emphasis on the
material world.
● Learn and adopt Japanese as the main language of society instead of
English.
● To extend primary and secondary vocational education.
● Emphasize the importance of work, and cultivate a love of work and their
neighbors.
Values
● The Japanese-style of education emphasize the, respect, love for work, and
dignity of labor.
Also, bringing to the forefront the distinctively Filipino culture which opposed
everything
to Western style.

Curriculum
● Focus: New Asian Order
● The Japanese discourage and even outlawed the patronizing of any
Western countries,
particularly the United States of America.
● Nihongo was taught in school in which abolishing English as a medium of
instruction
● Vocation education was bolstered
● Filipinos were educated to develop pride in work and dignity of labor.
● Education centered on developing a sense of Asian pride
● School calendar become much longer
● Class size increased to 60
