Detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching Science
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
a. Identify the planets in the Solar System
b. Draw a solar system and label it.
c. Recognize the value of having a knowledge why solar system exist.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Solar System

III. Procedure
Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity
A. Presentation
a. Greetings
“Good morning Class” “Good morning Teacher”

e. Classroom Agreement
But before we’re going to start our lesson
for today, let us have our classroom
agreement first.
What will you do if the teacher is talking in
front? “Listen attentively”
What will you do if you want to answer? “Raise your right hand if you want to
answer”
What will you do if the teacher give you
an activity? “Participate and Cooperate”
Is our classroom agreement clear? Yes, Teacher!
That’s great.
B. Engage
“To start our lesson for this afternoon, we
will have a game. Do you want to play a
game?
“Alright! The game is called “Word
Puzzle”, All you have to do is to find a
word that you will found in the puzzle.
But before that, I will first select eight
students from the class to participate in
the game. I will use the duck raise to
select the students. Each ducks have
your names, and you will move forward to
play the game if your duck win the raise.

Lets start the game” ( The pupils start playing the game)
C. Explore
Class, from the activity we did earlier
what do you think is our new lesson for
this afternoon?
Yes, Angelika? “Solar System”
What else Key C? “Planets?
Great job! Please give Angelika and Key (The pupils give Angelika and Key C a
C a barangay clap. barangay clap)
D. Presentation
So, our lesson for this afternoon is all
about “Planets or The Solar System” “Planets or The Solar System”
E. Explain/ Discussion
Do you have any idea what is our lesson It is all about the planets, moon or the
this morning based on the game we solar system Teacher
played earlier?
Exactly, it’s all about the planets or solar
system
When you hear the word planet what Solar system is where we can see the
comes in your mind? planets and moon
Very good. Solar system is the collection
of eight planets and their moons in orbit
around the sun, together with smaller
bodies in the form of asteroids,
meteoroids, and comets. The planets of
the solar system are (in order of distance
from the sun from) Mercury, Venus, Earth,
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and
Neptune.
Mercury - is the smallest and closest
planet to the sun in the Solar System.
Venus - is the second planet from the
Sun. It is named after the Roman
goddess of love and beauty. As the
second-brightest natural object in Earth's
night sky after the Moon.
Earth - is the third planet from the Sun
and the only astronomical object known
to harbor life. About 29% of Earth's
surface is land consisting of continents
and islands.
Mars - is the fourth planet from the Sun
and the second-smallest planet in the
Solar System, being larger than only
Mercury.
Jupiter - is the fifth planet from the Sun
and the largest in the Solar System.
Saturn - is the sixth planet from the Sun
and the second-largest in the Solar
System, after Jupiter. It is a gas giant with
an average radius of about nine times
that of Earth
Saturn - is the sixth planet from the Sun
and the second-largest in the Solar
System, after Jupiter. It is a gas giant with
an average radius of about nine times
that of Earth
Uranus - is the seventh planet from the
Sun. Its name is a reference to the Greek
god of the sky, Uranus, who, according to
Greek mythology, was the grandfather of
Zeus and father of Cronus. It has the
third-largest planetary radius and fourth-
largest planetary mass in the Solar
System.
Neptune - is the eighth and farthest-
known Solar planet from the Sun. In the
Solar System, it is the fourth-largest
planet by diameter, the third-most-
massive planet, and the densest giant
planet.
F. Elaborate
Okay class, since all of really understood
our topic this afternoon I have a few
questions.
What did you observe in the picture?
“I have observed that the Saturn has a
ring teacher”.
“Alright the Saturn has a ring.
How many planets and what are those?
Yes, hariette?
“The 9 planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth,
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
teacher”.
And the last one, which planet is closest
to the sun?
Yes, Justine? “The closest to the sun is mercury
teacher?
So now lets proceed to our new activity.
G. Evaluation
“I think you already understand our
Answers:
lesson, so we will have a short quiz. Get
1. Earth
one half sheet of paper”. 2. Mercury
3. Neptune
4. Uranus
1.It is the third planet from the Sun and 5. Venus
the only astronomical object known to
harbor life.
2.This planet is the smallest and closest
planet to the sun.
3. It is the eighth and farthest-known
Solar planet from the Sun.
4. Who is the grandfather of Zeus?
5. This planet It is named after the
Roman goddess of love and beauty.
H. Assignment
“ For your assignment, draw your favorite
planet among the eight planets and
explain why that planet is your favorite.”
“Anyway thank you so much for your time
and cooperation, I do hope you learn
something from teacher. You may have a
great day!”
“Goodbye teacher”
