Q1. WHAT IS HTML ? DEFINE.
ANS : HTML stands for Hypertext markup language. It describes the structure of the web page. This is
the most widely used language to design a web page. It allow us to create web pages that contain
paragraphs, headings , links and block quotes.
Q2. WHO REDESIGNED THE HTML LANGUAGE AND IN WHICH YEAR ?
A) Redesigned by Tim Berner Lee. In 1989.
Q3. WHA ARE THE KEY FEATURES OF HTML ?

Q4. WHAT IS HYPER TEXT ?
ANS. Hyper text is a piece of ordinary text that has a special feature of linking to other documents or web
page.
Q5. DEFINE MARK UP LANGUAGE.
ANS : It is a language that uses special symbols called Tags to mark up a text document and instructs the browser
on how to display the text.
Q6. WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF HTML EDITOR ?
ANS : There are two types of Html Editor they are ) WYSIWYG ( What you see is what you get ) and Text
editor. ( NOTE : revise & learn in details – WYSIWYG & text editor –page 84).
Q7. What is TAG ?
ANS : Tags are the basic building block of a web page. They tell the browser how the information is to
be displayed on the web page. Tags do not appear in the browser window but they affect the display of
the text and non text items in it. They are not case sensitive. Each tag in HTML follow specific rules and
syntax.
EXAMPLE : Correct way of writing the html tags.
In HTML documents a tag name begins with
an opening angular bracket (<) and ends with
closing angular bracket (<). Both opening and closing
tags are same . The only difference is the closing tag
contain a forwward slash on front of the tag name. A combination of the opening tag, content and
closing tag is called an element.

1. CONTAINER TAGS examples - <B> ……………….< /B> <HEAD > …………………………. </HEAD>
2. EMPTY TAGS examples - <BR>, <HR> etc. ( Don’t have closing tag. These tags do not enclose any data.)
3. BLOCK LEVEL TAGS are paragraph <P>, heading < H1> to < H6>, Horizontal rule < HR> etc.
4. TEXT LEVEL TAGS - Bold <B> Superscript <SUP>, Italic <I>, Subscript <SUB>.
Q9. ) WHAT IS AN ATTRIBUTE ? DEFINE. ALL ATTRIBUTES CONSISTS OF HOW MANY PARTS ?.
ANS : An attributes is a property that provides some additional information about a tag .It enhances the
functionality of a tag. It is always specifies inside the opening tag. All attributes consists of 2 parts – a name
and a value.
Q10 ) WHAT ARE THE BASIC RULES FOR WRITING HTML CODES ?
ANS : (Please revise & learn all the 5 points as described in the text book page 86. )
Q11) WHAT ARE THE BASIC HTML TAGS ?
ANS : (Please revise & learn all the details BASIC HTML TAGS – <HTML> , <HEAD>, <TITLE> TAGS.
The <BODY> tags – BGCOLOR, TEXT, BACKGROUND. as described in short in your text book page 88, 89.)
Q11) WHICH CONTAINER TAGS HAVE 6 LEVELS IN HTML. IE. - H1 TO H6. ? Define.
ANS : Heading tags. ( levels of headings). These are container tags with a start tag and an end tag.
The h1 is the first level of heading and the 6h6 is the last level of heading / subheading.
