Good Manners and Right Conduct: Module 1, Lesson 2

MY VALUES, MY GUIDE

Learning outcomes:
1. Explain the meaning and kinds of values.
2. Identify personal values.
3. Explain how values influence personal and social choices.
4. Discuss teacher’s role in promoting core values makatao,
makabayan, makakalikasan and maka-Diyos.

Introduction:

You have an idea who you are. You are aware of your good
qualities and not so good qualities. In this lesson you are ready to
continue your journey.
But you need something more, the one that would give you
DIRECTIONS – OUR VALUES.

Activity: VALUES TREE

 Draw a big tree, COMPLETE WITH ROOTS, A TRUNK, AND


BRANCHES.
 At the ROOTS, write down the VALUES YOU DEVELOPED SINCE
CHILDHOOD THAT YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR
PARENTS/FAMILY.
 On the TRUNK, write down the VALUES DEVELOPED FROM
FRIENDS, SCHOOL, TRAVEL, BOOKS AND OTHER SOURCES.
 On the BRANCHES, WRITE DOWN THE VALUES YOU WANT TO
DEVELOP AS YOU CONTINUE TO LIVE YOUR LIFE.
 USE A WHOLE SHEET OF SHORT BOND PAPER,

Analysis:
1. Are there overlapping values on your tree?
2. What do you think are the important values that you want to
focus on at this time?
3. Which of those values are most needed for the tree to thrive?
4. Do you think the values that you identified are evident in the
way you live your life now?
5. What realizations/learnings have you gained from this
activity?

Abstraction:

1. What is the first that come into your mind about values?
2. For the psychologist, what are values?
3. What is the view of a sociologist about values?
4. What do educators tell about values?
5. What are moral values?
6. What are ABSOLUTE MORAL VALUES?
7. What are CULTURAL BEHAVIORAL VALUES?
8. Explain the Teachers’ Values?
9. Explain the CORE FILIPINO VALUES.
