AIM :- Experiments on Simulation Tools: (CISCO PACKET
TRACER).
(1.1) Star Topology :-

• Star topology is a network topology in which each network component is

physically connected to a central node such as a router, hub or switch.
• In a star topology, the central hub acts like a server and the connecting nodes act
like clients.
• A star topology is also known as a star network.

(1.2) Ring Topology :-

• A ring topology is a network architecture in which devices are connected in a

ring structure and send information to each other based on their ring node's
neighbouring node via an RJ-45 cable or coaxial cable.
• As compared to the bus topology, a ring topology is highly efficient and can
handle heavier loads.
• Because packets may only travel in one direction, most Ring Topologies are referred
to as one-way unidirectional ring networks.

Procedure :-
Step 1: Take 4 switches 2960-24TT and Take 4 pc their name of 0 to 4.

Step 2: Connect pc’s individual switch with copper straight-through wire and every switch.

(1.3) Bus Topology :-

• The bus topology is designed in such away that all the stations are connected
through a single cable known as a backbone cable and the configuration of a bus
topology is quite simpler as compared to other topologies.
• When a node wants to send a message over the network, it puts a message over
the network. All the stations available in the network will receive the message
whether it has been addressed or not.
• The backbone cable is considered as a "single lane" through which the message
is broadcast to all the stations.
• The most common access method of the bus topologies is CSMA (Carrier
Sense Multiple Access).

(3.11) Portable Music Player IOT

A portable media player (PMP) (also including the related digital audio
player (DAP)) is a portable consumer electronics device capable of storing
and playing digital media such as audio, images, and video files. The data is
typically stored on a compact disc (CD), Digital Video Disc (DVD), Blu-ray
Disc (BD), flash memory, Microdrive or hard drive.
Connection :-

(3.12) Copper Straight-Through

A straight through cable is a type of twisted pair cable that is used in

local area networks to connect a computer to a network hub such as a
router. This type of cable is also sometimes called a patch cable and is an
alternative to
wireless connections where one or more computers access a router through
a wireless signal

(3.13) Copper Cross-Over

A crossover Ethernet cable is a type of Ethernet cable used to

connect computing devices together directly. Unlike straight through cable,
the RJ45 crossover cable uses two different wiring standards: one end uses
the T568A wiring standard, and the other end uses the T568B wiring
standard.

Network Devices :-

(3.14) Routers
Router is a network hardware device that allows to make
communication in between the internet and all devices which are linked

Media Access Control address (MAC address).

(3.16) IS-2000 Switch

Cisco Industrial Ethernet 2000 Series switches are fixed platforms

that deliver Layer 2 switching with proven Cisco IOS Software. With
their extensive certifications and wide range of power supply voltage
input and operation temperatures, these switches are suitable for almost
all industrial applications.

(3.17) Bridge-PT Bridge

Bridge in networking divides a LAN into multiple segments.

Bridge basically works in a bus topology. As mentioned in below
example, In bus topology the time PC 1 wants to send data to PC 8, it
broadcast the data to all the connected devices in a network and like this,
it creates lots of traffic.

(3.18) 3560-24PS Multilayer Switch

A multilayer switch is a network device that has the ability to operate

at higher layers of the OSI reference model, unlike the Data Link
Layer (DLL) traditionally used by switches. A multilayer switch can
perform the functions of a switch as well as that of a router at incredibly
fast speeds.

 Hubs :-

(3.19) Hub-PT Hub

Annexure No:

A repeater operates at the physical layer. Its job is to regenerate

the signal over the same network before the signal becomes too
weak or corrupted to extend the length to which the signal can be
transmitted over the same network. An important point to be noted
about repeaters is that they do not amplify the signal.

(3.21) Coaxial Splitter-PT Coaxial Splitter

Coax splitters are used in video transmissions systems to take a single

video feed and branch it off to multiple places. Coaxial cable splitters
typically come in 2, 3, 4 and 6 way configurations. Ideally, a coaxial
cable splitter maintains the proper impedance environment on both the
input and output ports. For video coax systems, this impedance is typically
75 ohms.

 Wireless Devices :-

(3.22) LAP-Pt Light Weight Access Point

In this Cisco Unified Wireless Network architecture, access points

are "lightweight," meaning that they cannot act independently of a
controller. The wireless LAN controller manages the access point
configurations and firmware.

(3.23) Home Router-PT-AC Wireless Router

Wireless routers are commonly found in homes they’re the

hardware devices that Internet service providers use to connect you to
their cable or xDSL Internet network. A wireless router, also called a
