Lesson Outline:
During the lesson, the learners will:
1. Introduction/Review: Prayer, Classroom management, Review of the past lesson.
2. Motivation: Students will do an individual activity called Fix the Confusion, where they’ll
correct a sentence with missing or incorrect punctuation, seeing how it changes the meaning.
a. Individual Activity:”Fix the Confusion” Each student will be given a sentence that either
lacks punctuation or uses incorrect punctuation, such as "Lets eat Mr. Crab" compared to "Let's
eat, Mr. Crab!" The students will rewrite the sentence with the correct punctuation, observing
how its meaning changes. This activity will demonstrate how punctuation directly influences
communication.
3. Instruction:
a. Teacher Discussion: The teacher will discuss the main punctuation marks and their uses, with
examples for each. Afterward, students will individually rewrite a short paragraph, correcting its
punctuation.
b. Individual Activity: "Punctuation Perfection" After discussing punctuation marks and their
functions, give each student a short story “Story: Bikini Bottom” with all the punctuation
removed. Their task is to read the paragraph and rewrite it, adding the appropriate punctuation
marks, such as periods, commas, and question marks. This hands-on activity allows them to
apply what they’ve learned.
4. Practice:
a. Group Activity: Students will engage in a group activity called “Punctuation Detective”. The
class will be divided into small groups, and each group will be provided with a short story or
dialogue that contains punctuation errors. Together, they will work to find and correct the
mistakes. Afterward, one member from each group will read the corrected version aloud to the
class. This activity will allow them to collaboratively reinforce their understanding of
punctuation.
5. Enrichment:
a. Group Activity:”Write my Punctuation” The students will be assigned a homework task
where they will write a short dialogue on a topic of their choice. The goal will be to incorporate
at least five different types of punctuation marks into their paragraph. In the next class, the
students will share their work with the class to showcase how they applied their understanding of
punctuation.
