McCastlain Company Announces Autumn Roundup
- Ibrahim Haphazard -
Stromgarde, Arathi Highlands - Full disclosure, Wes McCastlain is both a friend of The Privateer and has acted as a guest
columnist for the paper on one or two articles in the past. To prevent any perceptions of a conflict of interest, I have been asked
to write this article by my editor, Staniwick Felmeter. Wes himself is busy in Stormwind and only has familial connections
involved in this story.
Having said that, interest is high in the Alliance Stockgrowers Association (ASA) with the announcement of House McCastlain
that they will begin running roundups of Hillsbrad mustang and pinto horses from the fields of Hillsbrad to markets in Arathi,
Wetlands, and finally Stormwind as one of the largest roundups and stock drives to occur in the Eastern Kingdoms since the end
of the Fourth War. The McCastlains, an Elwynn based family regarded as top breeders and traders in livestock, including Elwynn
and Redridge cattle, Elwynn pintos and morgan spring horses, and Elwynn pork, have sent both several seasoned riders to cross
the border for the roundup, but has put out an active call for seasoned cowpunchers who are willing to take part in the drive.
“My family have spent a generation, from resisting the greenskins to rebuilding what’s ours and resisting overreach by the Stormwind crown
on our lands. We are tough folk, and we now have a chance to rescue these beautiful animals from the butchers and fiends of THAT
disgraceful realm that holds the north. I’ll be damned if I see another herd of Lordaeron stock be melted down into skeleton mounts for the
Forsaken.” - John McCastlain, in a rare interview while in Stormwind City on business.
Of course, by crossing the border, House McCastlain is in violation of the lawful border between Forsaken Lordaeron and
Alliance controlled Arathi. While the McCastlains have been quiet about where they plan to ride through, we here at The
Privateer have used our resources to reach out to Forsaken in Tarren Mill about the matter through our guest columnist and
intermediary, Gilam Beddoes.
“Hillsbrad horses are Hillsbrad property and thus the property of the Forsaken Government and the Desolate Council to do as we wish. Our
own outriders and roadwardens need mounts to conduct our business and we find ‘living’ horses are not as cooperative with our riders.
These Humans will be in violation of our borders and will be considered outlaws if captured. They will receive no quarter as prisoners of
war.” - Lieutenant Commander Samsa, 13th Tarren Mill Bloodwings.
Of course, House McCastlain is no stranger to fighting as several members of the family and members of the company are
veterans of the Alliance 7th and 6th Legions who have earned their honors from the Fourth War against the Horde. Sights have
now been set on the Hillsbrad-Arathi border to see if House McCastlain will actually cross and if the Forsaken will respond to
the provocation.
