SHOPPING

Some suggested questions for PART 1

[Link] you like shopping?

Yes, I quite enjoy shopping. It’s not just about buying things, it’s
also an opportunity for me to get out of the house, explore new
trends, and occasionally meet up with friends. I find the experience
relaxing, especially when I am not in a rush to find something
specific

2. How often do you go ?

I usually go shopping a couple of times a month. I prefer planning

my shopping trips according to my needs, so I don't go too often.
Mostly, I shop when I need something specific for myself or when
there is a sale going on.

3. What types of shops do you usually visit?

I frequently visit a variety of stores, but I mostly find myself in

clothing stores and bookshops. I have a keen interest in fashion and
reading, so these shops attract me the most. Occasionally, I also
visit electronic stores if there's a new gadget that interests me or if
I need to replace something at home.

4. Do you prefer shopping online or in-store? Why?

I prefer shopping online primarily for the convenience it offers.

Being able to shop at any hour from the comfort of my home is a
major advantage, especially with my busy schedule. Additionally,
online shopping sites often provide reviews and price comparisons
that help me make informed decisions.

IELTS SPEAKING TASK 2

THE EXAMINER – PART 2

one minute to read these questions. Think about your answers.

You can take notes if you wish.

You will have one minute to prepare what you are going to say.
Then you will have one to two minutes to talk about this topic. I will tell you
when to start and when to stop.

Discuss a difficult decision that you have made. Your one-minute preparation
time begins now.

.....

................, your one-minute preparation is up. Please begin speaking.

Describe a shopping mall that you have visited

You should say:

where the mall is located
what stores are in the mall
what you like about the mall
and explain why you would or wouldn’t recommend this mall to others

One shopping mall that I often visit is the Aeon Mall, located on
the outskirts of HO CHI MINH. This is a large mall that serves not
just as a shopping destination but also as a leisure and
entertainment hub.

Aeon Mall is situated about 15 kilometers from the city center,

making it accessible yet slightly removed from the hustle and
bustle of urban life. This location is particularly convenient for those
who live in the nearby residential areas.

The mall houses a diverse range of stores including international

brands like Zara and Uniqlo, as well as local boutiques that offer
traditional Vietnamese goods. There are also numerous electronics
shops, bookstores, and sports stores. Besides shopping, Aeon Mall
features a cinema, a large food court, and several themed
restaurants, providing a variety of dining and entertainment
options.

What I like most about Aeon Mall is its spacious and airy layout. The
mall is well-designed with wide aisles and plenty of natural light,
which makes shopping a very comfortable experience. Additionally,
the mall hosts various seasonal events and decorations that add to
its charm and appeal, particularly during festivals and holidays.

I would definitely recommend Aeon Mall to others, especially

families with children. The mall is not only great for shopping but
also offers numerous activities for kids, including a playground and
an ice-skating rink. It’s a place where one can spend the whole day
relaxing, shopping, and dining in a pleasant environment.

… Thank you, and now we will continue with Part 3.

For PART 3, I will ask you more questions related to the topic of PART 2.

Let’s talk about MONEY (for cue card 1).

....

That is the end of PART 3, which concludes the SPEAKING portion of the exam.

..............., you will have your mark in about two weeks – time with the other
sections.

Have a great rest of your day.

Make sure the take your student card with you.

Thank you.

1. Is shopping a popular activity in your country?

Yes, shopping is an extremely popular activity in my country. Malls,

markets, and shopping districts are often crowded, especially
during weekends and holidays. People in my country enjoy both
traditional shopping in physical stores and the growing trend of
online shopping, thanks to the convenience it offers and the wider
selection of products available.

2. How have shopping habits changed over recent years?

Over recent years, shopping habits in my country have shifted
significantly towards online shopping. This change has been driven
by the rise of e-commerce platforms that offer competitive prices
and the convenience of home delivery. Moreover, the COVID-19
pandemic accelerated this trend as people preferred to stay home
to minimize health risks.

3. To what extent do you think advertising affects the way

people shop?

From my perspective, advertising greatly influences shopping

behavior. It not only informs consumers about new products and
deals but also shapes their preferences and perceptions. Effective
advertising can create demand for a product that wasn't there
before and can sway people to choose one brand over another
based on emotional appeal or perceived value."

4. Do you think shopping habits are likely to change in the

future?

Yes, I believe shopping habits will continue to evolve in the future.

With advancements in technology, especially in artificial
intelligence and augmented reality, the shopping experience is
likely to become more personalized and interactive. Additionally,
concerns about sustainability and ethical consumption are growing,
which may lead consumers to prefer eco-friendly and ethically
sourced products.
