PAST TENSE
A verb tense used to describe actions that have already
happened or conditions that existed at some point in the
past.
The past tense in English is used:

To indicate an action that was in progress at a
specific time in the past. (Menyatakan sesuatu

To express an event that was happening when
another event began in the past.

ex: I was riding my bike when it began to rain
yesterday.
Formula:

Example:

- Function:
To state an event that was completed before
another event in the past. (Untuk menyatakan
suatu peristiwa yang telah selesai sebelum

arrived.
To express an action that was finished at a
specific point in the past. (Untuk
mengungkapkan suatu tindakan yang telah

To describe an action that was ongoing before
another action or event in the past. (Untuk
menggambarkan suatu tindakan yang sedang

bus finally arrived.
To emphasize the duration of an action before
another event in the past. (Untuk menekankan

masa lalu.)
ex: We had been talking every day for months
before we admitted our love for each other.
Formula:

(-) Subject + had + not + been + Verb-ing

Example:

CONCLUSION
