Ans: Government is a group of people which has the power and
authority to govern a country or a nation.
2. What does the Parliament consist of?
Ans: Parliament consists of-
• The President
• The Lok Sabha
• The Rajya Sabha
II. Give one -sentence answers:

(a) the law making body of India
Ans: The Parliament is the law making body.
(b) the two houses of Indian Parliament
Ans: (i) Lok sabha
(ii) Rajya Sabha
are the two houses of Indian Parliament.

Ans: For six(6) years is a member of Rajya Sabha elected.

2. Governor –
• The Governor is the head of the state.
• The Governor is appointed by the President.
• Governor is also appointed for term of 5 years.
3. Judiciary –
• It is an important organ of state.
• The Supreme Court is the highest court in India.
• It is located in New Delhi.
• The Judiciary consists of the Supreme Court , High
Court, District and Session court.

1. Why do people want a Government for their country?
Ans: A government protects people’s freedom and their [Link]

2. Define Democracy.
Ans: Democracy is a government of the people,for the people and by
the people.
3. How is the Lok Sabha different from Rajya Sabha ?
Ans : Difference between Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are-
*Lok Sabha-
• It is the lower house of parliament.
• Its members are elected directly by the people.
• Any Indian citizen who is more than 25 years of age can
contest elections to the Lok Sabha.
*Rajya Sabha-
• It is the upper house of the parliament.
• Its members are elected by the state legislative
assembly.
• Rajya Sabha is a permanent body that cannot be
dissolved.
4. How is the President of India elected?
Ans : The President of India is elected by the member of Rajya
Sabha,Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly . President is the head
of the country.
5. Why is a Coalition Government formed ?
Ans: When no single party gets the majority then many parties come
together and form the [Link] this way a coalition government
is formed.
