December 4, 2024
Our immersion started on December 4, 2024. We arrived at 7:40 AM, ready for the first day.
Upon our arrival, Ma’am Brenda and Ma’am Belle welcomed us and introduced us to Sir John,
Ma’am Joan, and the other councilors. The secretary was not present on our first day, but we
were informed that she would come the following day.
Our first task was simple but important—we were asked to staple and separate papers. Although
it was a small task, it helped us understand how things are organized in the office. It also gave us
a sense of how important every little job is in keeping operations running smoothly.
In the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, we went to the office, where we observed how the staff worked and
learned more about the office’s daily routine. We noticed how focused everyone was on their
tasks and how the work was divided among the team. Even though it was only our first day, we
already felt that we were learning a lot. The staff members were kind and made us feel
comfortable. We were excited about what we would learn in the coming days of our immersion.
December 5, 2024
This was the second day of our immersion. We arrived at the office at exactly 8:00 AM. As soon
as we arrived, we were introduced to Mrs. Hermie M. Punla, the secretary of the Vice Mayor.
She warmly welcomed us and made us feel comfortable.
After meeting Mrs. Punla, we gathered in the office, where Sir Marnel gave us a briefing. He
explained the role of the Sangguniang Bayan, the local legislative council. He shared important
information about the responsibilities and work of the council members. It was interesting to
learn how the council contributes to decision-making for the betterment of the community.
Sir Marnel also introduced us to all the congressmen at the Guinto office. We had the
opportunity to meet them and learn about their roles within the council. Everyone was very
welcoming, and it was a great experience to see how they work together for the welfare of the
people.
In the afternoon, around 3:00 PM, we concluded the activities for the day and prepared to leave
the office. It was an insightful day, and we learned a lot about how the local government
operates.
December 6, 2024
It was the third day of our immersion, and we arrived at the office at 8:00 AM. We started our
tasks by working on documents from 2018. Our first job was to write the ordinances for the year
2018. After that, we scanned the documents to create digital copies for record-keeping. Once the
scanning was complete, we carefully stapled the pages together to ensure they were organized
and ready for storage.
By the afternoon, we had finished these tasks and wrapped up our work for the day. At 3:00 PM,
we left the office and headed home, feeling accomplished for completing our work.
December 7, 2024
This was the fourth day of our immersion. We arrived at the office at 8:00 AM. The day began
with us continuing the work we had started the day before. We focused on finishing the
ordinance we were writing. We took our time to review and make the necessary adjustments to
the document, ensuring everything was in order.
After that, we spent some time scanning important documents. Although the process was a bit
repetitive, it was essential for keeping the records organized and easily accessible. Once we
finished scanning the documents, we stapled the papers together to ensure everything was
properly arranged.
By the afternoon, we had completed the tasks set for the day. We wrapped up our work and left
the office at 3:00 PM. Overall, it was a productive day, and we got a lot of work done to help
support the team. We’re starting to feel more comfortable with the tasks and are learning a lot
from the experience.
December 10, 2024
This was the fifth day of our immersion. We arrived at the Sangguniang Bayan at 7:20 AM.
Although the official work hours started at 8:00 AM, we came early to observe and prepare.
When we entered, we saw that a seminar was being conducted by Councilor Bernardo Guevarra,
together with the barangay captain, the secretary of Sta. Rita, SK officials, and other community
members.
During the seminar, they discussed the budget allocation for their community. They talked about
how to properly manage their funds and identified areas where they could adjust expenses. One
of the points raised was the idea of removing some seminars and instead using the budget to
purchase school supplies for elementary students. They also discussed the need for a service
vehicle for the community and ways to improve medical assistance through better budgeting.
Additionally, Republic Act 9262, which protects women and children from abuse, was
mentioned as part of the discussion.
While the meeting was ongoing, we, as immersion students, were assigned to serve food and
water to the participants. We carefully distributed the meals, making sure everyone received what
they needed.
After the seminar ended, we had lunch and took a break. At 1:00 PM, we resumed our immersion
activities. This time, we were tasked with organizing ordinance papers.
December 12, 2024
This was the sixth day of our immersion at the Sangguniang Bayan Office. We arrived at 7:16
AM and took some time to get ready for the day. By 8:00 AM, we started our work and were
assigned to write Ordinance 2022.
At 9:30 AM, we had a short break and returned at 10:00 AM to continue writing. While we were
working, the councilors arrived and asked us, one by one, about what we knew about the
Sangguniang Bayan and what we had learned so far. Their questions helped us reflect on our
experience and better understand how the office operates.
By 12:00 noon, we took our lunch break and returned at 1:00 PM to continue working on the
ordinance. We spent the afternoon writing and observing how tasks were carried out in the
office.
At 3:20 PM, Ma’am Hermie told us that we could go home. This concluded our day, and we left
with new insights into the work inside the Sangguniang Bayan Office.
December 13, 2024
This was the seventh day of our immersion at the Sangguniang Bayan Office. We arrived at 7:25
AM and took some time to prepare before officially starting our tasks at 8:00 AM.
Upon arrival, we were assigned to write Ordinance 2022 and organize various ordinance-related
documents. At 9:30 AM, we took a short break to rest and refresh. By 10:00 AM, we resumed
our work, continuing the documentation and organization of ordinance papers. The task required
attention to detail to ensure that each document was properly written, arranged, and compiled.
By 12:00 noon, we took our lunch break and returned to the office at 1:00 PM. The afternoon
session was dedicated to completing the ordinance documentation, stapling the necessary files,
and ensuring everything was in order.
As the day came to an end at 3:20 PM, we expressed our gratitude and said goodbye to Ma’am
Joan, as Ma’am Hermie was not present at that time.
December 16, 2024
This was the eighth day of our immersion at the Sangguniang Bayan Office. We arrived at the
office at 8:00 AM.
Our task for the day was to organize and prepare important documents related to the ordinances,
which needed to be printed. I helped with sorting and getting the papers ready for printing. The
office was quiet, but everyone was focused on their work. I learned how they ensured everything
was in order before printing. Each document had to be checked carefully for accuracy and proper
signatures.
After organizing the papers, we began printing. It took some time because there were many
copies to print. I noticed how meticulous everyone was when handling the documents to avoid
mistakes.
We took a short lunch break and continued with more tasks in the afternoon, spending the rest of
the day organizing and printing additional papers.
By 3:20 PM, we finished for the day and went home. Today’s experience taught me a lot about
handling important documents in an office and the importance of being organized and careful.
December 17, 2024
This was the ninth and final day of our immersion at the Sangguniang Bayan Office.
We arrived in the morning and greeted the staff with a cheerful "Good morning!" Everyone was
friendly, and we felt happy to be there. We continued working on the tasks we had started the
day before, although some tasks were still left unfinished.
Around 9:30 AM, we started to feel hungry, so we took a break and went out to buy food. After
eating, we returned to the office and continued working, doing our best to finish everything
despite the remaining workload.
Before we left, we wanted to thank Ma’am Hermie for giving us the opportunity to learn and
observe how the Sangguniang Bayan operates. We gave her a small thank-you gift as a token of
our appreciation and took some pictures with her to preserve the memories of our time there.
Through this immersion, we learned a lot about the operations of the Sangguniang Bayan and the
importance of teamwork and communication in an office setting. It was a great opportunity to
see how a government office functions and how much effort goes into their daily tasks.
As our immersion came to an end, we felt grateful for everything we had learned and
experienced. It was a valuable and memorable experience that we will always remember.
