LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 9 - QUARTER 3

GRADE LEVEL STANDARD: The learner demonstrates communicative


competence through his/her understanding of British-American Literature,
including Philippine Literature and other text types for a deeper appreciation of
Philippine Culture and those of other countries.

CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-


American literature and other text types serve as means of connecting to the
world; also how to use ways of analyzing one-act play.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner skillfully performs in one-act play


through utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources
based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, and Dramatic Conventions.

LEARNING COMPETENCY: EN9VC-IIIe-4.3/5.3: Analyze information contained in


the material viewed.
EN9WC-IIIe-9: Compose forms of literary writing.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
A. Identify the fact-checking techniques on social media information
B. Evaluate information through fact-checking; and
C. Write an essay on how to prevent the spread of false information.

 The teacher will show a picture containing a fake news.
 The teacher will let the students guess if its fake or fact.

Lesson Proper
A. Activity:
 The teacher will distribute an excerpt from Hamlet Act 3 scene 1.
 Students will be asked to pause and reflect on the validity of the
information they’ve read.
 They will be given five (5) minutes to do their task.

B. Analysis

1. What is the main idea of the Hamlet excerpt?


2. Why is it important for us to check the validity of every
information?
3. How can the themes of perception versus reality in Hamlet helps
us understand the importance of verifying information before
accepting it as truth?

 Discussion proper will take place….

Dismantling disinformation is all about identifying, challenging, and debunking


false or misleading information that can spread quickly, especially online.

Strategies for Dismantling Disinformation

1. Verify Sources:

Check Credibility: Ensure that the information comes from reputable and reliable
sources. Look for established news outlets, academic institutions, and experts in
the field.

Cross-Reference: Compare the information with multiple trusted sources to see if


it is consistent.

2. Analyze the Content:

Check for Bias: Identify any potential biases or agendas in the content. Is the
information presented objectively, or does it have a clear slant?

Fact-Check: Use fact-checking websites like Snopes, FactCheck.org, or PolitiFact

3. Look for red flags:

Lack of Evidence: Legitimate information is usually backed by evidence, such as


data, statistics, or credible references. Disinformation often lacks these
supporting details.

Sensational languages: be wary of content that uses sensational or emotional


language to provoke strong reactions.

4. Promote Reliable Information:

Share Verified Content: Actively shared accurate and verified information from
credible sources to help counteract false narratives

 The teacher will ask the students to state their own point of view
about the following questions:

1. What are the consequences of uncheck disinformation?


2. What is the purpose of dismantling disinformation?
3. How can individuals effectively identify, analyze, and counteract
the spread of disinformation?
4. How is dismantling disinformation important in our daily lives?

D. Application

 The students will be divided into four (4) groups.


 The teacher will ask the students to write an essay on how to
prevent the spread of false information.
 The students will discuss their assigned tasks respectively.
 After which, the teacher will choose one student per group to report
their answers in front of the class.
 The students will be evaluated through rubrics.
