BAG BOHO
Yup, a free pattern, we love that. This bag has a simple basic pattern that you can finish in your own way, so
you can go in many directions. Let's get started!
Bag measurements (measured flat)
Width approx. 20 cm, height approx. 15 cm (middle front, ex handles)
Material
Approx. 150 meters Barbante M à 300 meters per skein
Barbante M leftovers (for decoration)
1. You can also make this bag in a similar aran / worsted / medium cotton yarn, just make sure that
the yarn is sturdy and does not have too much stretch.
Crochet hook 5 mm
Tapestry needle for finishing loose threads
Stitch markers
Stitches
This pattern is written in US stitch terms (not in UK terms)
Chains
Half double crochet
Single crochet
Moss stitch
The bag is worked in the moss stitch, where you work each time:
1 single crochet, chain 1 and skip 1 stitch, 1 single crochet, chain 1 and skip 1 stitch, etc.
In the row that comes after that you work the same again, only this time in a staggered way. You
work your single crochet under the chain 1 from the previous row.

Details
This bag consists of a base of 1 elongated piece, which you then fold and close at the sides.
The indicated sizes are a guideline, you can easily make this bag larger, if you want to make the bag wider
or if you do not get the desired width with the indicated number of stitches, start with a longer chain, make
sure that you start with an even number of stitches. If you want to make the bag higher, continue working
beyond the indicated length of 36 cm.
With this basic model I did not use an accent color, but this is of course possible (eg for the fringes).
De base
Chain 30 (do not work these chains too loose)
Row 1 Work a single crochet in the 2nd chain from your hook, chain 1 and skip a stitch, crochet a single
crochet, *chain 1 and skip a stitch, single crochet*. Repeat from *to* to end. Work a turning chain
and turn your work.
Row 2 Work a single crochet in the chain 1 space between 2 single crochets from the previous row, *chain
1 and skip a stitch, work a single crochet in the next space*.
Repeat from *to*. Work the last single crochet in the turning chain. Crochet a turning chain and
turn your work.
Repeat row 2 until you have 36 cm in length. Do not tie off your thread, because we continue to the edge.
Edge: In your last row you also worked a turning chain at the end, now turn your work again.
For the edge, work a single crochet in the 1st single crochet and in all stitches of the top edge, at
the chain 1 spaces you also work a single crochet. When you get to the corner, you work a single
crochet in the stitch in the corner – chain 2 – a single crochet. Now continue along the long side and
in the corner also work a single crochet – chain 2 – a single crochet. Go all the way around until you
get to the last corner (where you started), there you work a single crochet – chain 2 – a slip stitch in
the 1st single crochet of the row.
Make sure you have the same number of stitches on both long sides, that makes connecting the
stitches a lot easier. Fasten off your threads.

Connecting the sides
Fold the patch (wrong side out). You can measure the flap as big as you want, in the example it is 10 cm.
Now close the bag at the sides with single crochet, inserting your hook into the outermost loop of the front
and the outermost loop of the back of the patch.
So when you put the two parts together you see the 4 loops of the 2 single crochet that are opposite from
each other, you grab the outer 2 loops. Fasten off the threads after finishing the seam.
Now turn the bag so that the right side is facing you again.
And now you can go wild, choose fringes, tassels, beads or as described below an embroidery on your
bag.
Fringes
For the fringes, cut threads of about 15 cm long and attach these fringes per 2 to the flap of the bag, always
skipping 1 stitch. Now lay the flap flat and cut the fringes at the bottom to the desired length.

You can do the embroidered flower completely intuitively. Start at the top, stitch with your needle and a
thread from the bottom (back of the flap) up and then stitch from the top down to the middle. Do the same
on 5 other points, so always from the end of the leaf to the middle. If you are satisfied with the distribution
of the 6 points, repeat everything a few more times, until your petals are thick enough. You make the heart
with a French knot.
Handles
I made a Romanian cord as a handle for this bag. My cord is about 120 cm long, but you can of course make
it as long as you want.
There are countless videos on Youtube how to crochet a Romanian cord, but of course you can also
crochet, braid or macrame another cord.
At the beginning and end of your cord, keep threads of about 20 cm, which you can then use to attach the
cord to the bag. Sew the cord on the inside of the bag, if you use small stitches you will not see anything on
the outside.
Closure
Finally, you can choose to sew a magnetic closure on the inside of the flap.
Voilà ready, enjoy your bag!
